I Feel Like 343 Hates me

I dont know if I’m the only one that feels this way…

I consider myself a competitive player but I have no problem with casual players. I know the competitive players arent the majority, but lately I (or we) have been feeling ignored.

After recent news of a remake being “not small” (implying vahalla or sand trap… etc…) I feel like 343 is ignoring the competitive community. I’m not opposed all of these changes but I feel like nothing has been done geared toward competitive play.

Can someone please tell me I’m wrong?

Your wrong.

Feel better?

Sorry couldnt resist man.

I coould almost cry…

I hope it Valhalla. EPIC map would be an EPIC remake

hahahah thanks for trying man

Give this a read.

Casual Gamers Are Better Than You

Also I would like to state that gamers aren’t so easily seperated into either category (and frankly casual gamers don’t exist with Halo).

I WANT INFINITY BACK!

It was the best map ever to be in Halo multiplayer. I’m going to be so disappointed if it isn’t infinity, i’ve been wanting infinity back since Halo 2.

Gave it my best shot man.

But think about it this way. 343 have expressed an interest in bringing new blood into the halo experience for some time now,mso they are flaunting what their targets want to see. Maybe, just maybe all the things comp players know and love are there, under the surface waiting for us, but they figure we should know that already.

makes sense. everyone comp player i know is buying the game no matter what so it wouldnt really make sense to advertise things to them.

Exactly, we’re hooked, we’ve followed the story and love these games, we’re the ones they rely on to help sell to the new guys. We should be taking our share in halo4 for granted.

The fact you didn’t go into raging butthurt mode at that surprised me. Sorry for sounding so blunt but most of the time it seems the ‘competitive types’ rage at anyone who disagrees with them.

Anyway, I don’t think the competitive community has been ignored. For instance, one of the first things I remember 343 saying about Halo 4 MP was that all the maps are being designed from the ground up and with a competitive focus in mind. So while I doubt any remakes would be classic competitive maps like Lockout, I don’t think MLG and the like will have a shortage of maps. There’s also future DLC, which while adding remakes, will probably add to the amount of specially designed maps.

As far as gameplay goes, I think Halo 4 will outshine all previous Halo’s. You get more specialized weapons such as the DMR, BR and Carbine, which should allow for more ‘roles’ and interesting teamwork. Most of those weapons have been confirmed to be hitscan which helps significantly in my opinion. I feel the armor abilities are far more better balanced as well, although I doubt we’ll see them in MLG or other competitive modes.

After two years of -Yoink-, broken Halo Reach, I think Halo 4 will bring back something of a golden age within the Halo community, for both casual and competitive players alike.

I like to think as myself as a competitive player. Although what really defines that? Playing on small maps like Lockout? Having the highest k/d? Winning the game?

I love that 343 brought back the BR, any hardcore Halo player knows it’s an amazing weapon and winning BR battles takes skill. Even though I’m not the biggest fan of the DMR I can’t wait to battle against someone who uses it against my BR. Now we have the DMR, Carbine, the Promethean rifle (I don’t know the name) and the BR. Those weapons all take skill to use, I think 343 is definitely catering to the casuals and competitive scene at the same time.

Although the maps may not be small that does not affect my view of Halo 4. I feel it will be much better than Halo 3 (which was ultimately disappointing to me) and Halo Reach.
Small quartered maps may have intense battles but if you’re playing against a team with similar skill does that count for something? The map size will not change their skill, that will not stop them from kicking your -Yoink- or you from kicking theirs.

To me winning the game is the priority, then having a high k/d lol. I could be called a “try hard” but that’s because I want to win. Just because maps are bigger my perspective on Halo does not change. It will still be a competitive game that takes skill.

You sir are talking my language.

Although I consider myself a casual player (I still play to win, and am pretty proud of my shooter skills, but I still am more interested in the lulz,)I’m still glad to see the game designed with a more competitive edge in mind. Halo Reach was designed for the casual and we all remember what a cluster-@#$% that game was.

Casuals want competetive games even if they dont know it. Studios want the “Wii money” and to “widen the player base.” They forgrt about us.

I dont know wtf 343 wants. (Pumped for campaign though!)

Like the dude before me said, just look at reach. P.O.S.

As far as I am concerned Haven looks like a great competitive map.

Oh yeah totally. Because when Reach was first announced and released, I was excited for the Kinect controls and PG rating for me to enjoy. The final level (thats available without needing to play the game) where you have to dance and sing away the Covenant was awesome!

Yes. Halo 2 was my least played Halo game. I don’t see the point of this comment though.

Patience young one, everything will reveal itself in due time.

Halo 2 was designed with adults (or at least 17+) in mind.

Reach was designed for preteens.

Yeah, Halo 2s R rating and being banned here in Australia really makes a difference to Reach getting a PG rating…
