Sadly I feel 343 has doubled down on the competive again that I fear I’ll bounce off this game just like I did with Halo 5.
I’ve been playing area and it’s so hyper competitive that it’s just not feeling very fun to me a lot of the time. I’ve lost way more games than I’ve won and at this point I’m just not really getting much enjoyment out of the modern Halo’s multiplayer. I was never an amazing Halo player but I’ve always been somewhat decent, I got to level 46 in Halo 3, 33 in Halo 2, I managed to get to Onyx in Halo 5 before I stopped playing it because it was always forcing me into competive games. My point isn’t to brag or claim I’m good it’s more perspective that if social playlists are this sweaty I think there’s an issue.
This isn’t me trying to flip a table but I do feel that if I’m playing this game and I feel frustrated 50% of the time playing it as someone who’s always been a higher level casual player then maybe this new pro team designed Halo thing just isn’t for me.
I know I’m in the minority when I say this but the last time I enjoyed Halo’s multiplayer on a consistent basis was Halo 4 when they broke out Infinity Slayer and I could play old fashioned Halo style with that games shooting mechanics which I found forgiving enough that I was able to have fun.
I’m not really sure if social arena has skill based matchmaking? If it does I fear I’ll bounce off Halo infinite and end up playing more Battlefield and Titanfall. I play video games to have fun and unwind, not play super competitive games with the best of the best every time I load into a match.
Anyways sorry for the rant but I’d be interested to hear if any other players are feeling this way?

It is too sweaty. The issue is obviously there’s just one playlist with all the biggest halo fans playing at once.
what this game looks like at launch with more options and large casual player base might sway your view.
I will say I’m an upper tier Halo player (minus 5) and the sweatiness of this game hasn’t been much fun for me either. Also I’ve hardly utilized anything in the sandbox on the maps. I just run around with the AR the whole time because I die to quick to even enjoy playing with weapons on the map.
Yeah I feel the same as you right now. I’ve always been decent at Halo and always have a positive KD, but I feel like a total amateur in this game.
Obvious aiming issues aside, it’s sweaty beyond belief. But I’m assuming when the game launches, most of these players will be playing ranked, so social matchmaking won’t seem as sweaty.
I’d like to also elaborate I like this game, but I’m just not sure if it’s the technical preview is full of really good players or there’s some trueskill under the hood I just want more casual matches.
I believe the core sandbox and balance is sound and it’s refined. It’s fun when you do cool things
