These are very well laid out suggestions, and I hope they implement something like this. The game’s future depends on this progression system, this needs immediate attention!
I agree with everything said !
Totally agree with you. We should earn credits while playing and earn more xp in each game.
The BP is horrible, the best armor sets are only available by paying.
There is a lack of maps, in Halo 5 we had too many maps at launch, and they added many more later for free. But in this case there are less than ever. Same happens with weapons, in Halo 5 we had an extense variety of weapons to choose, while in Halo infinite we have like 20.
+1
I agree with all of the points above. Good post for 343 to take a good look at, if they want the game to succeed in the long run.
I actually like the reduced variety of weapons as it makes it easier to practice proficiency with all the weapons and know what is being used where. Otherwise, I completely agree.
Agreed with this. Below suggestions are made based on two principles:
-
343’s principle of BP not bring full time job to complete.
-
Weekly challenges to encourage players to have fun and play in the spirit of Halo, team work and cooperation. (rather than running off individually to get specific challenges).
-
Per match XP based on gameplay achievement.
Kill - 10 XP
Assist - 5 XP
Win - 100 XP
Loss - 50 XP
Flag Cap - 50 XP
Time spent on objective (capping control point, holding oddball) - 1 or 2xp per second?
Group XP category for medals - more and rarer medals more XP
Normal medals - 2xp each
Multikills and Sprees- 5 XP each
(UI doesn’t have to show breakdown, calculations can be in backend)
- Doesn’t have to be exact number but XP scaling should align with design principle of not requiring a full time job to complete the BP. Guess it shouldn’t be too quick or too long.
Weekly Challenges:
This depends on how much the above implementation speeds up progression. If above is not enough and needs additional boost then below are parameters on what to tweak:
- Increase the number of concurrent weekly challenges
- Increase the XP reward
- Increase total number of challenges, (reducing XP payout). So that players can
*Doesn’t have to implement all but pick on choose based on projected time to take to complete BP again aligning with design principle of it not being a full time job.
Weekly Challenge Principles:
Challenges to encourage playing the game in the spirit of Halo. Teamwork, objective. Challenges should be designed so that people don’t feel focused on getting challenges, but focused on doing well and contributing to a fun game. Should be general enough (and also aided by per match XP), and encourage players to not check progress after every match, but something consistent where they’ll be confident they’ll passively earn as they play. Like a set and forget type approach weeklies.
Apex Legends has a good weekly challenge model. More challenges unlocking every week, eventually stacking rather than making last weeks challenges unavailable.
- Get X amount of Kills, Assists or deal X amount of damage.
- Steal flag X amount of times
- Spend X amount of time driving someone (more time with someone with flag, eg 1 sec is worth 3 sec, whereas normal teammate is 1:1)
- Spend X amount of time in capping control point (not sitting there doing nothing, has to be either capping or restoring control point)
- Scoring X number of power seeds
- Complete X amount of matches in any PVP.
- Complete X amount of matches in bot slayer (smaller payout and less amount to complete, intent for this one is to be a side challenge, break from other ones, 10 matches max)
Daily Challenge Principles:
Daily challenges on other hand could be a bit more specific -get kills with certain weapons, do something fun, kill someone with noob cube, repulse a grenade, rocket or person, grapple a vehicle or player, etc. But not too many specific dailies that hinder that Halo spirit of playing together.
@Halo Community
What’s a fair amount of time assigned to progress a battle pass? In my experience for Apex playing 1 hr per day to obtain all daily challenges for 66% of 3 months gets you very very close to completing. So about 60 hrs + additional 10 or 20 to finish off remaining.
I like your idea here, but unless they increase the max exp for the pass which is currently at 100,000 your per match values should probably be cut in half so as not to make the pass completely trivial for those who play video games like it’s their job.
Mhm. I’ve said this countless times on previous posts. This is one of my main gripes with the game. Aside from body type diversity, with armor conformity (Such as a proper female body type).
Its good to see someone else fighting for this, my wife feels so excluded because the body types do not fit here while the 3 and 5 ones did
There’s a whole lot that 343 need to fix before the multiplayer/ progression will be good. These are my options so don’t get mad.
- Time to kill on most of the weapons are trash and it get annoying when you empty a whole mag into a player and they just walk it off like I was shooting a nerf gun at them.
- Vehicles need to be reworked they don’t handle as smooth as they used too and one thing my friends and I have said is the banshee canon is so weak we both shot direct shot on a player you would thing it would kill him nope didn’t even knock his Shields.
- Is one that I think need to change is when your get shot while zoomed in with the sniper or battle rifle is not to knock you out of the scope because like come on your a super soldier I get a little movement away from what your shouting at but not knocking you out completely.
- They need an actual ranking system like halo reach for multiplayer that ties in with unlocking armor but you need Credit that you get from playing matchmaking to buy armor you unlock from ranking up and you can’t by the in game currency.
I do have more things I think could make the game better for new and the real OGS but if they fix most of the problem everyone else already agree on it be a great game.
You make a valid point with numbers 2 and 4. Points 1 and 3 however are traits of the Halo identity. Precision weapons have always had a descope when taking damage and the TTK is balanced so that skill plays more of factor in that someone who was caught from the side has a chance to fight back and possibly succeed if they have better skill or equipment.
Cry me a river they had six years and 500 million dollars the game is incomplete and unbalanced all of the feedback in the forums is hardly addressed not to mention old bungie did in half the time they have no excuses
Excellent points made, far more informative and helpful than my own. All of your points are very basic and frankly shouldn’t be problems at all after feedback from the betas in September. (unless the feedback was just ignored)
I absolutely agree with the game mode queueing especially. One of the things I came to give feedback on, along with matchmaking and experience gain rate. Like the game is generally fun and feels fun to play and it runs very well even on my sorta-meh computer. But I just feel like there isn’t a whole lot to keep me around at this point that other games don’t have, aside from it being Halo.
110% suggest you add to the list that we are stuck with 10 maps for likely the next 3 or so months.
We will be tired of them by the time the campaign drops.
totally agree! also add casual br slayer, ffa, swat
Umm I remember differently. I remember people playing Halo 3 for the ranks to 50 and I also remember people being rewarded for completing things like Vidmasters. As for Halo 2 most people were excited to be able play as Elites, I also remember Halo Reach back in the day had so much more content than Infinite and yet that didn’t exploit gamers. I doubt they will fix it since that would mean them actually listening to the greedy premium battle pass complaints.
If 343i don’t make major changes to the game it won’t meet their 10 year plan because people will be sick of the predatory system that they have in place at the moment. 343i need to respect the legacy of Halo and respect the fans. I get some people don’t care either way but I doubt many of the long term gamers will want to keep playing if they have to keep tolerating this mess of a progression system and this isn’t a quick fix like 343i are trying to make it sound.
One of my biggest gripes with Infinite right now is that is launched is such a low playlist diversity, you have to get lucky if you want to play a Slayer match, that’s insane to me.
Yeah literally 20min of tweaking my controller because I can’t stand the button changes, that only happened on a couple of versions prior and they switched back.
Then, all the above points like playing game variants I literally never want to play like CTF zone defense etc. I’m a ranked slayer player and swat only. Nothing else. Yet now I’m stuck wasting my time playing games I don’t care about. Bet the other players are real glad I’m in their team as I just screw around and don’t give two f$&ks about what is happening. Genius 343!
How come nobody has an issue with the absolute horrific and terrible graphics compared to Halo 5?!?!
Everything just seems blurred and not real. Melees changed and you don’t launch forward. General clarity if aiming and zoom of players etc… hating literally every second so far. Not something you will get used to. The play just seems phony and glossy. Halo 5 I felt like I was actually being attacked or chased or getting hit hitting someone etc. Now it is this weird sensationalistic gameplay. Garbage.
Glad I still have my Xbox one S and didn’t blow $600 on an X Series for Halo, not that you can find one.
Might be going back to tty COD and not even wasting a second more in this thing. I don’t have time in life to waste on this Infinite mess. See what I did there?
Read this 343 closely, I just played 3 games of ranked. Stopped what I was doing and came to the forum to vent about something you probably don’t care about. Literally 20yr Halo player. This is the worst.
I just shut my Xbox off. Not wasting another minute with this POS. I suggest others do the same. They have serious issues at 343 clearly with politics and egos.
Completely agree. Progression is molasses. Does not provide an incentive to play
