With 343i (and MGS really) set to take the reigns of everything Halo, I have to wonder if they’re up for the challenge. These are some mighty big shoes to fill, and I’m not so sure that 343i is up to it. As Halo (and by default, Bungie) fans, we’ve been spoiled with a certain level of excellence that not many, if any can obtain. I do hope that I’m wrong though.
I don’t know the link to it, but I have seen an image of a text that is appearently based off an interview with Frank O´Connor that says that Halo 4 will have very large-scale battles, weapon attachements and a large variety of weapons. This is not like Halo and even if it will “work well”, it probably won’t make real Halo fans who stopped playing Halo want to play it again.

> Just felt that I needed to say that.
I could follow up a better gaming experience than Reach if I gave you a ball attached to a string and a cup.
As for myself, I have a lot of faith in 343i. Not only are they incredibly passionate about Halo, they’re also composed of a lot of well known pros in the industry. From the content produced by them so far, I’m not worried in the least. Halo is in good hands.
Not to bump my own thread, but this seems rather apt given the mess that 343i is making with reach currently. TU is just as bad as vanilla. No support for third party communities. No more filesharing. No more nameplates. I’m real close to buying my CoD since 4…or perhaps BF3.
If a competitive list is created where certain attributes and settings are bypassed, the same old Halo experience will be readily available.
IF 343i understands their communitities, they know they need a list or 2 that NEEDS symetrical settings abroad.
These communities don`t care for the RPG elements that are the driving element behind all games now.
Where before the Chief was faceless that all could enjoy and suit up into 11 years ago, times have changed and so being faceless no longer helps to build connections.
Crafting the nuances of a players looks and attributes are as important as how those mechanics are actually executed to todays gamer.
Like how I do not care for many things certain gamers of 10 years ago must have, so too does the newer generation of gamer appear to that same decade old group.
But it is the RPG element that will sell Halo4 beyond the campaign, not the actual game-play (again, CoD2 says yo).
Reachs RPG element is very thin and seems catered more towards to hardcore mindsets and not casual or recreational mindsets. Unfortunately, the hardcore mindsets dont care too much for the RPG element in Halo. (not yet at least) and the thin layer didnt help much as a whole. It is a start. Like oh so many things right now, its start.
(I just freaking wish the newer gamer expected more out of Activision. Bungie is like Luke using the Emperoer that is Activision to learn the ways of the darkside.
My vision`s show that it will take another company to save them like Leia had to with Luke.)
