When we just have regular old social slayer. Why is this not a thing? We don’t have any playlists in social that are just regular magnum and AR starts that are not objective based. The closest thing was triple team and they took it out. How many of you would play Social Slayer if it was an option?
We don’t have it because it would just be filled with sweats and smurfs just like every other social and Ranked playlist. It really wouldn’t change much. It’s not really worth 343i’s time to make another playlist that’s identical to the another one except it’s not ranked.
I agree with wort wort, too many tryhards that can’t do good in rank and go stomp social players.

I Like ranked too, however I am currently Onyx in slayer and if nobody’s on it is very difficult to solo queue. So it would be nice to have somewhere I could go play and not care if I win or lose. So what if there’s “sweats” and “try-hards” if they’re better than you it will be a nice chance to get better against better players. I don’t understand why people think that just because it’s social that good players are all of a sudden going to go brain dead and get their butts handed to them. Ranked is a better option for not as good players because it will match you to people more your skill level.
Really take a second to think about it. Who is more likely to play a social match? A person who is bronze or silver, or a person who is diamond or onyx? My thought is that it would be the latter, I want to play slayer sometimes but would not have to care so much about what’s going to happen to my CSR.

I understand. You just asked if I would play the social playlist. I answered honestly. I am a ranked match kind of guy.
But I hear ya. I am not the type of gamer to wish someone doesn’t get a mode, vehicle, weapon, or feature in a game I would not use, or I don’t like. I see gamers in this forum, as well as others say “NO don’t add this, or that”. And I think to myself Wow, how shallow.
Like right now in the Halo Wars 2 thread. I am trying to get the Elephant unit to return. And other Halo fans are saying no, because they don’t want to combat it. I was like wow.

TBH I wish there was a solo-queue playlist on ranked for solo players but unfortunately, one of the guys at the MM team said that adding a solo-queue playlist wouldn’t work and maybe thin the population.
I don’t think it would be a wise use of resources. Because I don’t really think it would change much.
If we had a larger social population (which halo 5 drained) this would be great. There would be smirfs and try hards, but they would get so watered down it wouldn’t matter.
I want a social slayer as well honestly, the one day I played halo 5 recently I got agrovated at the lack of said playlist. I just wanted a team of four, shooting at another team of four. No ranks, no objectives, just eight people duking it out.
If halo 3 did it, why cant halo 5 right? Well, as I stated before the casuals got the boot early on. So I think it’s to late for halo 5.

I’d personally much rather have a Social Objective Playlist than a Slayer one. I prefer Objective over Slayer, and love a good CTF game. I also feel like the balance isn’t as bad between random teams, when there is a clear objective for less-experienced players. And if a full team does happen to play, the match probably will end quicker, assuming they play the objective.
You guys keep blaming “tryhards” but it’s honestly not a bad thing they are good at the game. The issue, I believe, is that there is a massive divide between Warzone and Arena. If someone wants to be competitive or play on smaller maps they play Arena. Warzone, however, offers the large, open maps with vehicular chaos. People tend to drift towards those qualities because the focus isn’t on them as much. There is more room to make mistakes when there are 23 other people on the map focused on what they are doing.
It isn’t a “tryhards” vs “casuals” issue. It’s that people wanting to relax are in Warzone or Firefight and older Halo fans looking to relax who want to play social are finding that Arena is filled with people warming up for their ranked matches.
Halo 3 had Big Team Battle and it’s ranked playlists virtually indistinguishable except for the player count. The same cannot be said for Halo 5. There are drastic differences between Warzone and Arena and it has chased the casual players away from Arena. And the BTB community was forced into Warzone which led to farming and 12-man teams steamrolling virtually all competition.
I see where they were coming from and what they were trying to do but it just divided the community quite a bit. And it’s not the fault of the skillful players. No one is going to purposely miss shots or take less advantageous spots on the map in the name of fairness. Nor should they.
