I’m going to keep this short. Give me the option to join in progress. I do not want to join a game when its almost over, nor half over, nor 2 minutes in or even 30 seconds in. Halo 4 has destroyed any sort of idea of starting off on even footing, and Join in progress makes this even worse. I dont want it -
Very rarely will you find people that want it. It’s a broken experimental system that they still can’t get right so a few months back when I played I simply quit through the network trick. I’m guessing that is still available?
In case you didn’t know it there’s a trick to avoid Join in Progress.
When you’re about to join a mid game press Start, then go to network settings and change it from Xbox Live to Local, then change it back to Xbox Live. This will kick you out of the JiP and back to the lobby, from there just restart the search.

As long there is Quit in Progress…then why not Join in Progress?
Get rid of both in my view.
I’ve become addicted to quitting games due to JIP, especially if its a map I don’t like.
However, if it’s a map I do like, I stay even if the team I get JIPed with is losing!

You obviously didn’t read our posts above. Since it is still available continue to do it and show these fools nobody wants this system.
I usually play with a pre-made(Group of friends) so never have much of a JIP unless I go into Flood solo. Doesn’t bother me too much with Flood but other game modes it drives me nuts.
I don’t particularly like JIP either. However, in team games, I can understand that if someone quits, gets booted or loses network connections, it helps to have a fresh player to replace them.
BUT: I went today to try out the community forge based FFA playlist…and got sent into JIP! I was PO’ed! If someone quits, it does NOT hurt the other players, but having someone join in progress sure HURTS THEM! Its essentially unfair! I really have not played any other FFA playlist, so I didn’t realize they have it for EVERY FREAKING LIST (and yes I’m shouting). I would have thought it was only for the team based games, JIP for FFA makes no sense whatsoever.
343, really?
/me taps foot, looking sternly at the developers
With this much technology available, I’m curious as to why the JIP window can’t be tweaked to avoid the idiocy. I love playing Team Objective and JIP is ruining it for me. It amkes no sense to have JIP in a playlist where there are games that rely on time to win. I get dropped into a KotH game where the score is 80-15 and I have to wait the full respawn time? Idiocy. Or an Oddball game where they’re 15 seconds away from winning and I spawn, get team killed, and the game ends while I’m respawning. This makes no sense. JIP in Slayer only, if at all.

Did you not read the above posts? Almost everybody always quits anyway when they join in progress. Quit penalty is the only way to solve quitting. And you’re damn right everyone would turn it off because people don’t like it for halo so why force it on us?
You’re kidding right? 75% of the time i JiP, I join a game that’s half way finished or more, and then get put on the losing team which is just getting absolutely destroyed… very aggravating…
What’s the #1 reason why people quit? Because they’re getting destroyed.
I hate JiP, but you know what I hate more? No JiP. For most of us, it’s a lose-lose situation. Like WolfBlade said above, as long as there is Quit in Progress, there should be Join in Progress.
Also, don’t whine about JiP “destroying any sense of playing on even footing” or whatever, because by taking away JiP (adding the option to disable it will pretty much erase it), you would destroy it even further. Sure, it destroys it for you, but if you actually thought about it, you would realize that it restores it for everyone else. Nobody cares if you, or anyone else is displeased by Joining in Progress, because that is not the point. The point was never to please you. The point of JiP is to make it fair for everyone else, and if one person doesn’t like it, tough -Yoink-.
We have to keep in mind what exactly JIP has been brought into Halo for.
Its reasoning is so that uneven teams due to quitters can become whole again. You will notice that the majority of your games that you are joined into will be on the lower hand. It is far from fun, but the system’s priority is to place you into an even game before starting a new one.
The system should be fine-tuned so that if a certain score or time limit is reached, JIP will be disabled to that game.
