I Don't Want MCC to Become the Main Halo Again

There’s been a lot of discussion throughout the community regarding Halo’s future. I’m on the side of history repeating itself. In a few years, MCC will replace Halo Infinite due to a mass migration of players. I don’t want this.

Right now, MCC is in the best place it’s ever been. This is because the 2018-2021 period was used to create good will so Halo Infinite would have a financially successful launch. By the time MCC could take over, 343 Industries and Microsoft will likely have made their money back on Halo Infinite. Because of this, there would no longer be anything on the line for them.

I don’t want to see MCC further defaced with a store and free-to-play model. But if it once again becomes the main Halo game, I promise you this’ll happen. That’s why I don’t agree with the people saying everyone should migrate back to MCC.

This doesn’t make sense. Nothing added to MCC has been paid content. You literally can’t buy anything that has been added.

The only paid content I recall are the reach and ODST campaigns.

You many not like the challenge or token system that’s fine.

There is no chance they would add paid Micro-transactions to MCC. It will never see a huge population again.

If infinite does continue its trend of losing players and dies like H5. No Halo games are going to have large populations.

This is a very interesting topic. I see MCC as a great connection of all the past Halo games in one place. Halo Infinite is running by itself just fine currently. Give it some time to grow and mature.

Personally, I don’t think it’s a bad thing that MCC gains an influx of players at Infinite’s demise. MCC is home. All of the current players who never left for Infinite will continue to play their favorite Halo game/games within the MCC with or without the addition of a store or anything like it. They just won’t partake in purchasing anything and it won’t change anything for them. Plus they will have more people to play against or with. If people leave it again, it won’t be that drastic anyway since right now it’s still possible to find games pretty fast even with Infinite being relatively fresh.

Regardless, I don’t see a store being added to the MCC ever to be honest, even if the population grew substantially.

I don’t believe this would happen, If anything they’ll port Halo 5 to PC and release it on steam with a revamped shop system so as to avoid creating any more negative PR if they absolutely need to test the waters with paid for content.

MCC at most will possibly see more H:O maps for Halo 3, maybe some new Forge content from H:O, and whatever updates are needed for what’s already available.

I can assure they won’t. They’ve had the last 7 years to sort out the REQ system, and no way they are doing it now. At most it will be a straight port with minimal PC options and call it a day. If they are going to test new shop ideas it will be within Infinite itself.

343 knows they can’t add a paid store to MCC, it would be hellfire and brimstone from the community.

they’d do it if they thought money could be made from the decision. They took out offline play for Halo Infinite campaign knowing full well fans would object. Same for Halo5 Forge and again I’m sure for Halo Infinite Forge which will no doubt include microtransactions. They’d rather the fans were p!$$ed at them than miss out on more money. Sad but unfortunately true

I wish MCC did have something that could be logistically paid for in a store, to give the devs an incentive to continue putting in official contents.

Truth is though the game is likely gonna have to rely on mod support if it’s going to continue having the lifespan it should, because it shouldn’t just dry out after a few “seasons” like flavor of the month FPS, it’s a classic collection, but also the only PC versions of most of those games.

It does, Reach and ODST Campaigns are 10$ each.
