Please please please give us the mark IV. I was looking forward to being able to use the helmet in multiplayer and YouTube videos, but you make it extremely difficult to get. At least make it an achievement based unlock like mark VI Gen 1 and tell us how to get it. This helmet style is one of the most iconic pieces of armor in the entire franchise. To deprive us of this is to deprive us of Halo itself. If it wasn’t for the game featuring that helmet style, there wouldn’t be a Halo to play!

MMmmm… not quite true.

The mark IV is made almost identical to the mark V (which we still don’t have) which was the helmet of Master Chief in Halo: Combat Evolved. You can’t have a middle or an end without a beginning.

Halo is not built upon a helmet.
\it is built upon gameplay and story (although a rather weak story this time around). Armour combinations are superficial. Garnishings.

then I guess we can throw customization out the window and all wear a full recruit armor set with no individuality or nostalgia at all. No emblems, no personal armor, no customization at all. Look, if you don’t like something, don’t use it. Some people have played previous Halo games and like to be decked out in the original set of mjolnir power armor to get a small taste of what Halo used to be, how much it has changed, and to know that 343 is at least trying to care for the better, most loyal parts of the Halo franchise that has been playing since the start.
I find it hard to believe that you people are this upset that you have to work for, or get lucky for, a specific helmet. There’s no -Yoinking!- way you’re thoughts on the game revolve around the ease of unlocking Mark IV. You were probably begging for them to put it in the game, and now that it’s there, you don’t want to work for it.

To be fair, CE’s story was pretty lame also. The game play was just great. We knew nothing about what was going on. Why they were running, why the covenant was at war with humanity what exactly chief really was or even what Cortana was. We didn’t know crap lol. Just the game play was awesome for its time. Was not until halo 2 we got a decent story and Halo 3 where we got a real story. At this point though the books came out and the books story telling was 100x better then the game. Would have been better to get the fall of reach that happened in the book then some slapped together abomination like reach. The only saving grace to Reach was the space mission and that was only because it was something different.

You could do all of that. It would still be Halo and still function exactly the same. That is not what makes Halo Halo. It’s just a nice additional layer that helps suck players in. It’s definitely not bad to have customization, but it is not the defining feature of Halo.

I like this post. Because they are spot on. Halo CE and Halo 2 had no major customization outside of colors. It is however always good to have customization. It pulls in those vanity -Yoink!- people and there is alot of them. Hell I myself sunk 80$ just to get Copperhead Fang set. Now what would be nice is a more detailed color customization. Cant adjust height and width though because that starts effecting game play by making it easier to take cover under things or providing bigger targets to hit.
I mean if anything they should have awarded it for Halo Wars going BWC, since that’s the game it’s from.
No that would be idiotic.
It should be unlocked after watching Fall of Reach, like the Nightfall armor is for Nightfall. That’d make more sense.

Halo CE had an instruction booklet that gave a whole bunch of story information including answers to most of what you mentioned.
You have all completely missed the point of what I am trying to do or say. There is no such thing as working for your armor anymore, there is only random chance. Ever since customization was a thing in Halo, we have had reasonable goals to push through in order to get the armor we wanted. Most of this was through rank. Some, achievements. Others, DLC. Now there is no controlling what you get outside of the mark vi Gen 1 and Nightfall armor. Commendation req packs don’t carry armor. We should be able to have some control over what armor we unlock, especially after you dangle it in front of our faces kik a twinkie in front of a fat kid in handcuffs. Cut the -yoink- 343.

I agree, MC wasn’t the only one to have Mk. IV, V, or VI. He just so happened to be one of the most famous/long living Spartans in the program. Another point to OP is that MC never wore Mk. IV in any of the main Halo installments.
This is kind of a mute point at The Rudy but armor combos in universe are much more practical
I always like reading the flavor when I unlock stuff lol
