In Halo 5, we went to independent colony, Meridian, which totally separated from the UNSC. Mostly people live in independent colony hates UNSC a lots. The one thing I don’t understand is that why do they use UNSC gears? Assault Rife, Battle Rifle, DMR, Mongoose, Warthog, etc. are the UNSC gears. My question is why the UNSC haters and living in the independent colony uses UNSC gears? Don’t they use their own gears?

It’s because most of the Innies are get or got, depending on the time, their weapons from the Colonial Military. The Colonial Military is or was, again depending on the time, being issued with UNSC weaponry. I think this is correct.
Military surplus, black market, free enterprise, ect. Just because they are independent doesnt me they dont want to use top of the line gear.
Easier to paint a bike you stole than to build a bike from scratch.
Cheaper too.
