Ok, so in the cutscene in spartan ops when the unsc is being invaded by prometheans, palmer kills them with 1 head shot with a PISTOL! WHERE DID THE PROMETHEAN SHIELDS GO?!?!? I have to shoot a promethean knight twice with a beam rifle to kill it, but palmer gets to 1 shot them with some halo ce GOD pistol.
Also, in the trailer for episode 8, she gets knocked down by a promethean knight… that was just dissapointing in my eyes… i would just expect a spartan to reaction faster to something like that… well shes not a spartan ll so i guess that explains it…

i know… she shouldve atleast been wearing the helmet in the campaign,where she meets chief for the first time… also doesnt it bother anyone else how cat dies in halo reach? what was the point of wearing all that armor with you die in 1 shot so does this mean that in halo 4… if a spartan gets shot in the head they will die even if they have a helmet? O_o

I think it’s just a hump you have to get over that CGI will be different from gameplay.
Lol I just got a mental picture of Thorne unloading on those elites with the storm rifle…I just don’t think it would work too well for the, to have to unload 4 clips of magnum ammo on one promethean.
I agree, I would love to watch a cutscene with Palmer shooting a Knight with a pistol 16 times and dodging enemy fire for 30 seconds. That would have definitely added to the moment. /sarcasm

i will not stop until it is just! and that NPCs will have to unload 5 clips of ammo on promethean knights! so that they will know what i have suffered >:l

That would have been boring.
Alternatively she could have fired at them with both pistols while backpedaling as the Prometheans menacingly continued to approach since pistols should do jack -Yoink- to ancient robot space demons.

A headshot with any gun will kill you. The point of wearing the armor are the energy shields it affords. As well as the HUD and performance boost(faster running, strength to flip a tank etc.)
However, the EMP that followed the glassing beams of the covenant ships overhead temporarily rendered their energy shield offline.

To add to that the books also use a completely different scale for weapon strength. For example a single plasma pistol shot would burn directly through armor in the books.
