Yeh sadly they did this. The original plan was to make it all earnable but sadly locking away content was the opposite of what they claimed they would do. I’d love to earn all the armours and actually accomplish something but it’s been like this for 6 months and nothing has improved. Plus the lack of content is just depressing.
Right now short of confirmation that season 1 store items are/aren’t able to be purchased in some fashion, it’s really up to speculation of the individual you decide to converse with on the subject, and it’s an issue that simply comes down to the use of the word “vaulted”.
For me, there’s plenty of evidence to support the idea that everything has been available in the store will continue to make appearances again in the future. There’s a multitude of “vaulted” unlocks that can still be obtained after having been previously available and a multitude of items currently available that are under the banner of “vaulted” as well. Pair that with the items that were “released during season 1” yet didn’t make a single appearance, I’m putting money on the idea that items are going to remain in circulation pending further clarification on the topic that suggest they’re not (or purport my speculation further).
“Vaulted” has a negative connotation primarily stemming from Bungie’s use of the term in Destiny which is used to describe the shelving of preexisting content to be potentially used at a later date if at all. Seeing as we have no clarification on what “vaulted” means in 343i’s context, we simply latch onto our prior understandings of the word to assign meaning to it here, when it could very well be a different word for “not yet unlocked”.
“Fear of missing out” in the context of seasons/store has thus far at worst been “get a hustle on the free stuff before we put it behind a paywall/have to wait a few weeks/months before you see it again”.
Exactly, I think “Vaulted” was a bad term to use without explaining what it means. Season 2 content that isn’t out yet is also “Vaulted”. I don’t think that anything is gone for good (besides the fracture content from season 1) and “Vaulted” likely only means “not available at this exact moment”. I could be wrong but that’s my take.
My issue here is that a Mythic armor effect I purchased and equipped is now vaulted and cannot be equipped. Has anyone experienced this?
I bought “Enlightened Path” part-way through last season when it was in the store and had it equipped on my active armor core. It is now unequipped and Vaulted on the customize menu. I know that the game has many bruises, but I can’t imagine they vaulted something I bought, right?
Any way I can fix this?

I understand that free to play meant we were gonna have to suffer things like the store but vaulting is daft. 343i have shown time and time again they don’t care about the players, look at all the Spartans that bust their butts to earn 152 in halo 5 and they got a coating. It’s a joke.
343 have been chasing trends since they took over the franchise and it doesn’t work. halo 4 they went with load outs and kill streaks, halo 5 then chased the ‘esports’ crowd (in fairness its MP was tight and worked perfectly as a game, it just wasn’t very halo) and infinite is chasing the ‘Fortnite skins’ trend.
You said it yourself, it’s supposed to be predatory.
This is a really bad comparison.
First of all, alot of games with holiday themed stuff let you either earn it again the next time the real-world holiday rolls around, or make it buyable if you missed it.
Even if they don’t, its limited, specifically holiday-tied stuff, and if not holiday tied, is a small handfull of items.
In Halo Infinite, anything in the store might never return again, never end up in the store for some weird reason, or come back at some random, completely unpredictable time. The timing of any item is completely random, so you have to be checking the store every day and buy things whenever possible, or good luck finding out when/if its available again.
