I don't think you guys know what you saw.

This forum has been particularly negative about halo 5, calling it cod when that makes no sense. Let’s run down what you can now do in halo.

thruster
sprint
slide
charge
clamber
ground pound

at first glance it may look like it’s copying cod. Fact is though, thruster was in halo 4, and ground pounding was in the cgi trailer, and even so it works totally different compared to the ability in AW, which is just a downward dash, in halo it’s a charged ability that has a target and has no splash damage.
sprinting works differently as well, you can’t shoot while you sprint and any health lost doesn’t come back during sprint, which also starts slow and gradually gets faster until you reach terminal velocity, allowing you to slide or charge. This ties it to offense rather than defense. Charge isn’t even in cod and can only be don’t once a certain amount of speed is reached when sprinting.

the only two abilities that can be seen as pander moves are slide and clamber, which I hope are removed because they don’t do a whole lot to benefit the game or make it deeper.

people also like to bring up smart scope and make it out to be ads, when it’s nothing like it. All it does is create a new animation for scoping and expand to automatics, while not changing the weapons performance, or change player movement. It being on autos is actually a good thing because it changes them from being useless bullet hoses, Into actually being viable at close to mid range against precision weapons. Firing from the hip makes no difference.

people here also seem to forget how halo 5 also doesn’t have the same map design, kill streaks, weapon attachments, or loadouts. The game now has identical starts, weapons on map, vehicles, arena map design, and a totally different weapon system.

yeah the new halo is so much like call of duty. (Sarcasm)

I like slide. Wonder if you can only shoot a shotgun when sliding or if you can fire all weapons. Clamber i’m iffy on. Seems very abuseable.

I think all the blind hate halo 5 is getting from these purists is pretty pathetic if you ask me.
I’m actually waiting from them to either wait for the beta to admit they were wrong or for them to leave halo for good because they can’t get over their petty hate. Honestly I hope they leave. They’re making this community, and the halo brand smell rotten.

The package of new features of Halo5 are basically what was packaged in AW minus the charge.
The fact that they work worst doesnt make the comparison better it just shows that Sledgehammer put the work into balancing the gameplay around them.

I dont know how fast “terminal velocity” is reached but if it takes a serious time these two abilities that work around that may not be put to use at all.
343 may build maps that push the issue but the situations are what drive the use. If the enemy is on top of you there is little running to go around and little use of those two.

thank you, i was very happy with what i saw in the reveal. Halo has to evolve, all this die hard who are like " everything has to be like H2!!!" that is what the MCC. if you want to play H2 then go play it. Let halo 5 be its own game. I loved what i saw. and can not wait for 12/29!!

I like the thruster, don’t really see the point for slide, ground pound needs some adjusting. Other than that it looks great.

How are they worse? I played advanced warfare, all of it is literally so you can avoid stuff. The maps are not built differently so gameplay isn’t more vertical. It’s executed pretty horribly in aw, and it doesn’t help the game. Halos take on the abilities is different and inherently more balanced because everyone starts identical, whereas in cod, you customize your exo suit. Halo 5 is doing almost everything differently. Nobody seems to understand.

I hope both slide, and clambering get cut. The former is useless while the latter slows down the game and makes movement more clunky. I mean, why not be able to jump over a ledge and clear it instead of having to watch an animation in which by the looks of it doesn’t let me shoot. Crouch jumping is better and more fluid, and also raises the skill gap slightly. Long story short, I would rather just have a higher jump Hight.

Not quite as pathetic as you implying anybody who hates what Halo 5 could have in store is a “purist”, and all the hate is “blind”, even though people have perfectly valid reasons to be severely disappointed.
And when the beta comes and if they still don’t like it, it’s just “petty hate”? Right, because no matter what, Halo 5 will be objectively good and anybody who doesn’t like it is a petty “hater”.
Honestly I hope you get a clue and learn to accept other people’s opinions, even if you disagree. You don’t even have to respect them, just understand they have a reason for holding them. I even hope you start listening to other people’s arguments, but that may be pushing it.
Don’t talk about a group of people (which you generalize as anybody who doesn’t like something you like) making the community and Halo brand smell rotten when you’re making posts like this.
Also, nobody has played this game yet. For anybody saying “lul u havnt played it u cant say u hate it” that can go the same way for people saying Halo 5 will be great. We can discuss game mechanics but it will be speculation until we get our hands on the beta at least.

I think it’s starting to slow down a bit, people are actually starting to understand the gameplay a bit more

I think that the game is more realistic with these new mp settings. Thumbs up.

Amen!

Blind hate is bad, but their skepticism isn’t. Not a rag against you by any means, but you fail to realize that many of these people are just terrified that their favorite brand may have the final nail be put in its coffin. They’ve had years of 343 blatantly ignoring them, so their fear isn’t entirely unjustified. Personally, I feel that Halo 5 is a diamond in the rough right now, so close to greatness but with obvious flaws and issues that can be corrected.

I know exactly what I saw. But apparently because I didn’t like what I saw that makes me a “Halo 2/3 purist”. So says the people who seem to be 100% certain that Halo will be good this time. I saw people say the same thing about Halo 4, and looking back, I’m laughing.

I’m reserving judgment 'til the beta hits. Assuming it will be playable upon release…
