I’m sure by now everyone’s heard that Halo Infinite will not be releasing with Campaign Co-op or Forge at day 1.
I don’t see why this is such a dramatic issue for you all. Let’s say 343 did what you all accuse them of doing, and stayed silent, released the game without these features. You’d flip a lid. But they didn’t do that did they? They were kind enough to be transparent about every aspect of the game’s development thus far.
I’ve seen some folks pleading for the entire game to be delayed another year. That again isn’t intelligent. What happens if the game gets delayed AGAIN? That’s another year of development for, what, two modes? On a live service game?
Is it really that big of an issue for you that you can’t stack -Yoinking!- boxes in forge on day one? You can’t just be patient and enjoy the entire rest of the game for an extra couple months while they finish those modes? Is that so hard?
Look, I get it. It’s disappointing news, I was hoping to co-op with my family. But we have the entire rest of the game to work with here, and it’s not like this was a surprise. Everyone knew going in that there would be some modes missing. It’s only natural, and 343 is going to need to stick with theit deadline if they want to actually have a successful release otherwise it’ll be 7 damn years since the last release of Halo. Someone could’ve been born and had their first kiss in the length of time it’s been since Halo 5’s release. Just deal with it. Stop complaining about having a transparent game company being honest about the state of the game and letting us all know what to expect at launch. At this point it’s not up to 343 to delay the game further, i’m sure the Microsoft execs are losing their mind that the game missed the first release as is.
Campaign Co-op and Forge are not important modes to have at launch, and if they had to delay those modes i’m very sure they had a very good reason. And there is no reason to delay a game just for two side modes. Just enjoy the Campaign and streamers and multiplayer and social games and all the amazing seasons that come after launch with new additions and fixes and expansions.
As far as coop goes Some people like to share the new experience (campaign) with friends, family etc. It’s a bonding thing and would actually make more people buy the game and invest in it.
Also it’s more principle than anything. The game is still unfinished after 6 years? Think about that.
Let’s not do the intelligent thing because it’s a matter of view which is subjective to the person individual values. I agree overall though however there is no “right” view on this. Being a live service makes the launch understandable. It just feels like the community is going to kill the game more than the quality of the game itself.
The campaign is not free to play. They should delay the campaign and keep multi-player on track for this year. I should not have to buy the campaign for $60 and not have the classic experience I should have.

This reminds me of Gears5 all over again when TC decided to launch a skeleton release of maps, character and content, and seasonally drip feed it over time. Let’s just say the community really didn’t like it. Hopefully Infinite will be different but I’m concerned because Gears5 was basically a flop in the end.

The community? Which is in no way whatsoever responsible for the development, content and quality of the game?
Forge is very, very important to have at launch, when the community and player count is at its largest and liveliest.
Halo 5 suffered from adding Forge later, after the player counts and enthusiasm had started to taper off.
They didn’t make this decision so that players who don’t care whether they can play coop wont have to wait 3 months to play campaign. They made this decision because the holiday season is the best time to cash in on the campaign. That’s when the most people will buy it.
The decision to separate the releases of Campaign and Coop, was made because publishers create games to make money.
And while, yes, Campaign should be pushed back until coop is ready to go. I am 100% an advocate of this and will preach it until the cows come home. It is not a realistic decision from a business standpoint. And so Halo Infinite joins the ranks of this last decade’s obsession with “release it now, fix it later” game releases. And will forever be doomed to be remembered as another Halo game with an extremely dissappinting launch that shot it in the foot out of the gate.

Never stated that that they were responsible for all of that. It just feels like people are more likely to bury the developers than celebrate their successes. That set a strong tone for the community which impacts how others view the game. If the game is being crapped on by the community all the time then less people will continue to play it or even try it.

Gears 5 went down hill too. Not Halo but still developers under Microsoft. Big surprise it’s business above all else. I guess milking the cash cow really is a thing these days.

We’ve been patient, and are willing to be more patient to let it delay longer to launch complete with STAPLE features past games had, you are not being patient and are wanting to play immediately.
“Oh no they told you about it its okay its a half baked cake”
In halo 5 they set precedent that it was ok to delay forge, i think theater too. MCC was straight borked on console launch. They now set precedent for 6 months and coop campaign/pc splitscreen 3 months. A slippery slope was made with halo 5. I bet you halo 7 has even more features missing at launch.

> Halo Infinite Developer 343 Got Help From Gears Of War's The Coalition
Oh man… and gears 4 wanted that micro transaction cash but didn’t want to put in the “live service” effort that gears 3 provided
So my take on this, I honestly don’t mind that co-op and forge are delayed. As to why? Well…
Forge, I’m hoping would be easier to use than Halo 5’s forge, but I’m not holding my breath for it. And frankly, I think there should be a beta for forge.
Co-op, I’m not gonna play co-op straight out of the gate anyway. Every Halo game I’ve played, I played solo and didn’t play Co-op until months later, years in the case of Halo CE and Halo 2. So I’m gonna get the same experience anyway. And besides, just because there’s no co-op doesn’t mean you can’t play it and still talk about the game.
Now, do I think the game should be delayed? I honestly don’t know. On one hand, sure, delaying it means they can probably release a more complete game, but considering how some people seem to be hating on 343 just for having a delay in the first place, that may not matter, because no doubt, some people will be like “Oh why couldn’t you do this sooner?” or something like that.
Now, on the other hand, keeping the release date the same at least gives everyone something to do in Halo Infinite while they wait for co-op and forge. And besides, co-op and forge aren’t all that matter in Halo. You got multiplayer and more options with customization, even if the colors are more restricted. Plus you still can play the campaign and talk about it with others.
So should the game be delayed? I don’t know, and I don’t care. I’ll enjoy the game regardless.
Why? The longer people wait the less seems to be getting done. They were going to release the game last year and postponed it due to the pandemic, but obviously that wasn’t the real reason. The game has had an extra year and is still unfinished. Instead of adding features they’ve been taking them away with the promise that eventually they’ll update the game and add them in.
It’s kind of insulting the intelligence of everyone paying attention.
I think people are forgetting that they can just not buy the game if they don’t like it. I for one am still very happy to see this game coming out this year, despite being bummed that I won’t be able to play the campaign with my brother like we always have. No one is forcing anyone to buy the game and be disappointed. Although any adult would know that, a lot of people have been behaving as toddlers for the last two days.
Im not gonna accept this decision, not launching forge and campaign co-op is unacceptable at all. They had 6 years for this and still not getting co-op and forge at launch.
