It’s not a jetpack, it’s a zero-g thruster pack. And that’s not a magnum either, it’s a completely new weapon.

I believe thruster packs were built into certain spartan armor variants, and since Chief has new armor in this game I’m not surprised it’s got one.
As for the weapon that looks like the magnum w/ a grenade launcher, I wouldn’t be surprised if weapon attachments were in the game but I think it’ll be more along the lines of how ODST used them instead of how CoD does.

I can imagine every few hours Cortana would just tap on the Chief’s tube and waking him up to see if he is still alive

I’m sorry dude, it was so long ago I dont even know where to begin to look. Try checking around interviews from around the time of the trailer’s release. All I know is that he said that some are simple aesthetic changes, a common thing from progression. And that some of it would be explained in the game. But like I said, it’s speculation that he may have woken up earlier.
Master Chief has actually had that Zero-G thruster since Halo 2. It was explained as an addition to Mk VI armor that was basically never seen or used until now, but it was there in the Mk VI armor information released by Bungie in 2004.
Not to mention he’s in new armor anyway, apparently given to him before the events of the Trailer.

yeah i thought it was still the Mk VI in the trailer with 343 just making look diffrent for whatever reason

yeah i think the trailer is meant to show of new stuff/stuff there thinking about putting in (e.g the pistol thing)

It’s a CGI teaser trailer. It isn’t canon, it’s just showing what sort of things may be in the game and what it’ll look like and, most of all, to announce that Halo 4 is being made.

Whaddaya mean, you don’t remember the Chief going to sleep with a jetpack on? Didn’t you beat Halo 3 on Mythic? I thought everyone knew this…
Actually it is not a jet pack it is a EVA thruster or whatever for whenever he was in zero g and he has had that I think since halo 2 so it is nothing new and that grenade launcher thing IS ABSOLUTELY NOT a magnum with an attachment but rather a new gun that would most likely replace the halo reach GL so that means NO attachments aswell
