I can’t say that I don’t like it. I don’t have the fun that I used to playing, what gave me the feeling of ‘fun’ I do not know, but I am sure that in general I haven’t enjoyed playing Halo since a month or so after Halo 4 came out. My overall feeling with playing is just boredom more than anything.
I guess my topic is that if anyone else feels something similar. Please understand that there is no part of Halo that I hate or really dislike because I recently started reading the Halo universe books and enjoy those and also I am not talking about one Halo game being ‘better’ than the other because I play Halo 3 and Reach now and again but I don’t enjoy those as I used to either.
I am posting now because I wanted to make sure the feeling of not having fun with Halo 4 was because of me or something else and not Halo 4.
I would guess that I am either getting bored of games, Halo (hope not), or something else.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. There are many possible reasons why Halo 4 isn’t viewed as “successful,” compared to the other Halo games. By this time, most people have been exposed to multiple first-person shooters. Part of the Halo “fatigue” is that people are bored of seeing similar concepts across all their games. For example, in the days of Halo 2 and Halo 3, there weren’t many first-person shooters in the competition that were innovating. My guess is that people are looking for a new experience. Whether the Halo games “revisit their roots” or not, I suspect we will continue to see a decrease in numbers. Yes, I am certain the Halo franchise will continue to be successful, but the “fatigue” is inevitable. I consider Halo 4 to be a great successor in the Master-Chief saga. To me, the multi-player is fresh and exciting. I recommend you play Halo 4 with a few friends; that always makes it more fun!
To any of you looking to have a good time in Halo 4, I invite you to join me every Friday and Saturday for a night of Custom games! I play with my friends, those two days, from 10:00pm - 4:00am (Central Time). I welcome everyone!
Well I’m sorry to hear that…
At least you’re not one of those total haters out there. But I’ll give an example of a similar gaming issue like this, and it’s possible solution.
Minecraft. Amazing game. I’m talking about the Xbox 360 version, not the PC one with all the mods and adventure maps and fun stuff. It was really my first game, and I loved it. Update after update. It was my paradise. My game. After a good time, well over a year, I began to feel like it wasn’t as fun as it used to be. It didn’t play it as much as I used to. Then I stopped to play at all. But the only time I did was when I was with my friends. Then it was that great game I loved again.
So I dunno. Maybe try it with a group of pals? And with Halo 4, there’s a bunch of different gametypes for you to try. So maybe go down the list, one playlist at a time, game by game. Throw Spartan Ops or a campaign mission or two in there. Mix things up.
Hi five, I feel the same way too. For me, I could’ve blamed it on the laggy/unfair matches. Or perhaps the repetitiveness of playing the same story over and over with no theater or scoring to cope with. But in truth, I believe it has to be the lack of buddies to play with.
Most of my friends stopped playing Halo 4 for awhile now. I remember back in the Halo 3 days, it was so epic just to have their company. It did’nt matter how much lag we experienced(Well it kinda does actually), or how much we lost. Because we just laughed and played the game together, having that shared experience online was (At least for a loner such as myself) one of the few exhilarating moments for me that really makes the social aspect and subsequently the game, fun.
I can’t read your mind or understand your life’s story at one glance, but this could probably be the same thing you might be experiencing. Maybe round up some friends of yours and if they did’nt like Halo 4 before update, ask them to give it another try. Hope into Wargames /forge or Spops/campaign. Maybe this might help you fulfil the fun factor you were looking for all this time.
For me it is also the thing when you get to play with friends. I usually get bored of H4 or Reach matchmaking quickly if I play alone, which I very often do.
I honestly do not find much of a challenge in playing Halo 4. The game kind of rewards you if you are playing poorly. Between the set up created by loadouts, personal ordnance and the addition of nearly 4 times as many medals from previous halo games, it feels like you are not being rewarded for doing bad. So even when playing with friends, there is not much incentive for me to continue to play or even try much. I also just do not like the map designs. Sure it had the cool new appeal when it first came out, but that quickly faded. To me, this is what makes Halo 4 a boring game now.
You’re not alone my friend. The same happened to me during the first 2 months of H4. the blame isnt really on you, it is just that recent FPS games have lost their longitivtiy as well as the motive to play (ex. Ranks and other incentives). Also, I feel like 343i manipulated with the mechanics of Halo to a degree where most games are just frustrating. I say give H3 a try and you’ll see realize how fun Halo was back then.
