I don't like BTB Heavies.

Why did 343 think it to be a good idea for nearly every player in BTB to have a power weapon at all times? Every game I play now eventually devolves into an entire team with Rockets, Snipers, Incendiary Cannons, and Binary Rifles. The rest of the players are either just coming off the respawn or in a vehicle.

It’s a bit ridiculous when more than 2 players out of a team of 8 have Binary Rifles at the same time; it absolutely wrecks map flow. Even when you don’t get a Rocket Launcher in your killstreak, you wait long enough and one will fall right in front of you randomly. A lot of the time in BTB, if I’m not having a bad game, I will run out of DMR ammo very quickly, and end up having to carry Rockets/Sniper, or SAW/Boltshot, all because there are no weapons I can pick up for ammo unless I die.

The ordinance system becomes even more dumb in Dominion, when most of the bases are closed off, and players end up just camping with the Rockets and Shotguns that spawn right inside their base. Maps like Exile and Longbow just turn into whoever sucks at sitting in a corner with Rockets the least. In my opinion, the only map that plays Dominion even close to good is Meltdown(It plays Dominion great, and is my favorite map in Halo 4). Meltdown plays well only because the middle point is so open, and it isn’t as impossible to retake a base near the end of a round.

tl;dr version: Frequent power weapons and a large amount of players do not mix.

The amount of power weapons needs to be limited. That’s a fact. Nothing against ordinance in Halo 4 BTB but it needs to be toned down a lot.

Agree. I was playing Dominion yesterday and if you lose 2/3 of the bases off the initial rush you’re screwed. It takes your whole team a couple of rushes in order to fully root out 3 or 4 guys camping in a turreted base with rockets and a Wraith cruising around outside. While you’re occupied with that, you’re losing the only base you have left because it takes all of your teams efforts to try and get that second base.

And for chrissake, why do you always spawn out in the open of your bases in Dominion? Any team with a brain and 2 bases will roflstomp you into oblivion because of the garbage spawns in front of bases.

All this goes to show that, while the idea is novel, the Infinity ordinance drops are not good for Halo. Halo needs to go back to being about map and power weapon control.

I don’t have many issues with ordinance, but it is not good design for an enemy team to get such game-changing weapons randomly and without any notification.

Rockets, Binary Rifles, Snipers, etc. should only ever be on the map. No exceptions.

Instead of having a nice fresh shower, 343 decided to give us the cold firehose! BTB Infinity feels like H2 Fiesta!

Ordinance drops. Why cant we just call in saber nukes or phantom attacks?

Well Said. I’d much appreciate a classic BTB playlist. With toned down ordinance drops/ power weapons spawning on the map and not from thin air. Maybe regulate some loadouts too. Stickies and Plasma pistols are almost game breaking for most vehicles now.

I am still perplexed as to why 343 has such a -Yoink!- for heavies. It sucked in Reach, and it sucks now.

This

Personal drops have made BTB team snipers with camo and probably Rockets…

The system needs some tweaking for sure but could work really good if done right.

It could, but in its current state, BTB is just an absolute chaotic mess. You never know when somebody has a weapon or not. For a game that tries to push BTB so much, and the first map pack catering exclusively to it, you’d expect at least that portion of the game to work well.

no it’s not BTB or BTB heavies. it’s called BTB Team Rockets for a reason.

But yeah seriously, I barely touch BTB in halo 4. it’s not fun. It all comes down to who is the last guy without a power weapon instead of the other way around.

That’s what a lot of playlists in this game come down to, sadly…
