Is it just me or is every map just boring in design and layout, I haven’t played a map that I even remotely like and if some aren’t to bad by layout the art direction is atrocious.

NAILED IT !
None of them feel special in any way, that’s for sure. Even Halo 4 which was criticized for its maps had some standouts (Haven, Exile, and so on). Even Reach had Countdown.
Here… nothing
I enjoy Truth and Coliseum. That’s pretty much it, which is sad. I look at CE, H2, and H3 and remember the fantastic maps those games had.
Truth is a remake so I disqualify it.
I kinda like Regret and Plaza, but not as much as I loved Sandtrap and Haven and Battle Creek back in the day.

You’ve learned to love those maps because they are classics now. We all agree that the maps from Bungie were a lot better than 343i’s maps.

The art is bad, the layouts are bad… but some of the reason the layouts suck is to allow the new abilities to work. One of the many sacrifices these craptastic abilities create.

I know a lot of the map layouts are to cater for the new abilities but they could at least make them look a bit more exciting

To compare any 343 maps with Halo 2’s, and some of Halo 3’s is laughable at best.
Not only were the maps better on an individual basis, but as a package, they also worked much better. Every map played completely differently, which isn’t the case with Halo 5’s maps.
In Halo 2, there were some maps that you’d never lose on, and others that you rarely won on… and this is because of how different they truly were. Different playstyles and strategies were required for the different maps. It was amazing.
I agree! The classics had the most memorable maps. Especially halo 2. I hate every map in halo 5 except for truth. Which is a remake.
I can’t say that I really enjoy any maps in 5 either. All I know are the ones I completely despise aka pegasus and regret. I suppose if I had to choose eden and the rig are ok. They don’t wow me from a visual standpoint though.
I actually love the map designs, which is weird considering I hate a majority of this game. But the art style feels NOTHING like Halo. Empire, Eden, Plaza and Rig make no sense for a plot setting and do an abysmal job at explaining where these maps even art in the universe. Fathom is one of my all time favorite maps but again, WHY is it in Halo? Coliseum and Regret/Truth are basically the only 2 maps that feel like Halo maps and even then those maps are pretty boring. Out of the 4 Warzone Maps A.R.C is the only one that really feels like it has a purpose in the setting. Stormbreak feels like a Star Wars map and Noctis feels like they tried and failed at capturing the New Mombasa feel. I can talk for DAYS on how trash Apex 7 is.
