But I decided to play Ricochet while I was at a friends house (I hadn’t played for almost 3 months at this point), and I had a great time. Over the past week we’ve been having tons of fun and even picked up the Champions Bundle. I’ve encountered way less lag than before too.
There are still some problems, having scores pop up on my screen feels kind of empty once I became 130 and I never liked the boltshot or promethean vision. I like that there’s a good balance of custom loadout based games and pre-set loadout based games.
But I’ve really liked the changes that have been made, some more variety in playlists would be nice but they would most likely have a low population anyway so I won’t hold my breath.
I thought that this thread would be another one of those threads having a go at 343 for trying something different, but I am glad that it isn’t. I agree that halo 4 is a much better game now than when it was when it first came out, and I say much better I mean MUCH BETTER!I agree with you that ricochet is a very fun playlist and a good addition to halo 4’s matchmaking, ily 343
> Just out of curiosity, was the lag/network conditions the main reason you stopped playing Halo 4?
Yeah that was definitely one of the main reasons, usually one out of every 5 or so games had extreme lag, though almost every other game had enough lag to be an annoyance.
Who knows, maybe something on my end magically fixed the lag(I still have the same internet though). Regardless, I feel that 343 is going in a good direction with their recent changes. I am cautiously optimistic for Halo 5.

Pretty sure you were just getting lucky on the lag since it’s peer to peer hosting. Last night was the first night in forever where I didn’t experience any form of lag (pure luck).

Yeah Bravo, your really doing good for the community, one small step at a time! Now all you have to do is hire all your old MLG Halo buds, like Strongside, Walshy, Pistola, Ghandi and maybe you guys could make Halo 5 into something real special!

Yes.
I switched back to Halo Reach, it simply never lags like H4 does.
If I play 20 BTB games, in Halo Reach 1 in 20 (5%) will lag by 0.5+ seconds - with Halo 4 it’s 14 in 20 (70%) will lag by 0.5+ seconds.
Other multiplayer games I play never lag as badly as H4 does either - so it ins’t my connection (7 ms ping times to server, 70 ms ping times across north america, 50 Mbps download 11 Mbps upload ADSL, single user - iTV off, Reach shows open NAT and excellent connection) - it’s H4 that is the problem.

343i should stick to what they do best (aesthetics, graphics) and give reigns to awesome community people who know what they’re doing, like Bravo.
Bottom line, 343i handles the gimmicks and add-ons (purchasable perks, stances, skins, armor, assassinations), the community handles how the game plays.
I bought the champions bundle but I’ve only played it once for a few hours. Ricochet is fun but it is just a more luck based version of assault to me. I still support halo 4 and 343 but I’ve had more fun playing payday 2 and gta v comes out next week so I don’t see myself playing halo until halo xbox one comes out. I like that 343 has made effort to add and correct things and I bought all the dlc, I just hope their next game doesn’t need as much fixing.

I don’t necessarily agree (also, I really hate most of the armor in the game), 343 just needs to have a better dialogue with the community, perhaps Microsoft is making that hard, or maybe they’re making it hard for themselves.
But I absolutely believe there is room for both classic style and new style gameplay. I know LS had a low population, but maybe they should have classic and Infinity playlists at launch for Halo 5 since the population will be basically guaranteed to be large.

An excellent thought.
I think 343 will listen after the launch of Halo X1. I think that if we get feedback in right after release, them being between projects may be helpful.
Also, hats off to you Bravo!
343 has definitely moved in the right direction since release. The game has only gotten better as time has gone on. Is there still more they could do, yes, but I gotta say that I do believe they’re learning what the community does and doesn’t want in halo 5.

That’s because the majority of people who are interested in that type of gameplay had already moved on.
As for implementing both, well, Ranked and Social say hi (again).
