I don’t know wether to get halo wars 1 or 2. I am looking for a good single player experience and I play on console. I am also not new to rts and have played Starcraft Brood War when I was younger.
I would get HW 2.
It’s got more depth, a decent campaign, as well as campaign DLC.
Honestly I think you can get both for dirt cheap. But I’d cast my vote for HW2 any day.
Wars 2 has a healthy population. Meanwhile, if I want a game on Wars 1 I have to stalk people and search them out. Go for 2.
If you wanna play a now fairly good multiplayer game online go with HW2.
If you want a good campaign and more offline fun go with HW 1 which has in my opinion better music, maps , heroes and units, but isn’t as balanced.

If you were to get Halo Wars 1, get the Steam version as it has mod support. Otherwise, get Halo Wars 2 as it has a higher population and a lot more to offer.

If you mean halo wars 1 yes. Never experienced a freeze , black screen or anything else there. Hell I think I never experienced server laggs online.
Both games have a fun story, and while HW2 is a sequel to 1, there is a bit of a gap where you can reasonably play 2 without having the context of 1. If you want the full package, play them in order. However, HW2 being the newer game cranks up the gameplay of the first one to make it a bit more complex, something that an RTS fan probably looks for. HW1 is fun, but a parred down experience when it comes to RTS games.
How about both? Wars 1 should be dirt cheap
Wars 2 is better in just about every way possible.
HW2, better in almost every way and more people playing it, pretty sure the complete or ultimate edition of HW2 includes HW1 as well.
