Why does chief have to fly his ship into the didacts super ship? Why can’t the infinity just shoot the composer with a MAC round or a nuke? Like the composer is not protected or anything it’s just shooting at earth fully exposed,
At the end of “Infinity” (I think?) doesn’t the Infinity fire a MAC round or two at the Didact’s cryptum/ship, and it doesn’t do jack? I think the assumption here is that the Composer is just as tough as the Didact’s ship (which is now comfortably nestled inside)- if not tougher. In other words, the only weak point is inside the Composer itself; which is why Mister Chef had to go all Star Fox on that jank.
“I’ll go it alone from here!”
not protected? it had at the very least slip-space capable shielding on it. considering what it is it probably had stronger shields than anything humans have yet encountered.
The infinity round puts a nice hole in it! Why didn’t they just launch a nuke down into the hole they made with the MAC? It makes no sense, master chiefs tiny bomb blows up the entire ship!
If the end made sense we wouldn’t complain and continue to complain would be my best guess.
343I decided to break every sacred rule as well as the most sacred rule with Halo when they made the story for Halo 4.
Rule #1 with Halo Master Chief does NOT FAIL!!
Then they put a message at the end that basically says they are going to do what they want and they don’t care what we the players think.
They are probably setting up for 5 and 6 to focus on Spartans other than Master Chief since he has been essentially removed from the franchise at the end of 4.

True, but that was only possible after Chief weakened a vary particular spot. What’s more, you’re not taking the size of the composer onto account. If you paid attention while playing through the mission, you’ll remember that there is a massive amount of “empty space” within the composer (and that Chief has to make quite a trip involving portals to the vulnerable area)- making the “expansive force”-part of explosives basically ineffective.
What’s more, a nuke is not good against machinery (outside of the EMP). It’s main advantage is the massive amount of heat it creates, which is highly effective against melt-able materials. I don’t think it’s a stretch to assume the Composer is made of materials that don’t melt easily.
As for the EMP: again, it’s not a stretch to assume the Composer is shielded against such an attack.
Basically, we’re looking at a Death Star, and the best way to kill it is a tactical strike on a specific weak point. Yeah, you could probably hammer it with everything you have, but you’re more likely to run out of ammo before the thing dies.

30 megatons. That’s “small” now… You know, that thing would destroy the island I live on (I’m serious).

^ This. A giant hunk of metal comes out of slipspace that they (although previously warned) have no idea of any defensive capabilities said giant hunk of metal may have. If they chanced launching a nuke at it via missile and it did nothing that would be a major moral dropper and a waste of time, safer having the nuke brought right next to the target. And the “tiny bomb” Chief had was one of their stronger nukes so its a tactical better safe than sorry.
It’s called a HAVOK for a reason…

Huh, 5 and 6 are part of the Reclaimer Trilogy. It’s all about Master Chief now.
The reclamation has already begun!
