I Don't Get People Who Don't Like Certain Maps?

Like seriously I don’t get people who don’t like certain maps. Personally I don’t have problem with any of the maps. I do my best to learn the map like the back of my hand and to know where all the pick ups are aside from power weapons and power ups.

Learning the maps isn’t that hard and learning where the spawns are isn’t hard either. It’s a little thing called having “spatial awareness” and if you have really good hearing or use headphones you’ll have an advantage over other players. There’s also a thing called paying attention to both not just whats in front of you but also your surroundings and radar. I’ve literally come across players who just seem like they pay attention to what is in front of them and they get killed instantly from someone that comes from the side or behind.

It’s not ever the map from my perspective, it’s always usually the player.

“I don’t understand others and I’m right because I’m right”

There are many legitimate reasons for individuals to like/dislike maps.

For example, I dislike Truth because I’m mostly colorblind. When on red team I have troubles seeing blue team against purpley backdrops.

OP’s thought process reminds me of this moment from Futurama.

Because certain maps do not play well> Riptide for example becomes a crouch fest with storm rifles.

I hate arc with a fiery passion, because it is poorly designed for what it is. The bases are too close together, if you get triple capped by a half-competent team than you are pretty much down for the count. On the other hand, I rarely have a bad game on Arc as far as my personal performance goes. I know the way the map flows, I know the strategies people will use and I know how to counter them. Whether or not you perform well has nothing to do with whether or not you like it. I don’t like the way the game flows on the map.

Take Sword base from reach. I hate that map more than any other in Halo history. Every match played the same way. If I spawned on one side I’d cover my teammates until the got the sword, hop down grab the grenade launcher count to two, send a grenade up the air lift and hop up meleeing the guy who was waiting at the top. If he had the shotgun I’d pick it up, then go towards the lift room. If the enemy team had it, I’d help rout them and if my team had it, I’d hand off the shotgun to teammate and take up my spot at the top of the stairs with Needle rifle/Grenade Launcher. If I spawned on the other side I would help my team press forward for the sword, make sure my team get the shotgun, assassinate the guy who came up the air lift with the grenade launcher and then rout the other team from the lift room. I would then take my spot on the stairs with a needle rifle/grenade launcher. The only difference between every match I played on that map was whether I spawned red or blue or the couple of times I decided to break out of the map.

The pit is a good map, but I played it so much during H3 I can’t stand it. I honestly never want to play on it again.

I understand the maps, I just don’t like the gameplay, the setting, or I’ve just played it too bloody much.

Basically you are saying “I don’t think other people’s opinions are right but my opinion is right.” “I dont understand why people don’t like this type of food I like it.”

Certain maps deserve to be hated because they play poorly. Ex: Riptide

Why are you combining a player’s capability of playing on maps with his / her personal opinion on those maps?

If I’m good on a map, but dislike it, does that mean I suck on that map?
If I’m horrible on a map, but like it, does that mean I’m good on that map?

Or maybe the map really is -Yoink- and deserves to be -Yoinked- upon. Glares at Escape from A.R.C.

Also, I’m pretty sure that the phrase “always usually” is somewhat contradictory.

Have you never disliked a map?

Truth is a garbage map that never played well in any version.

I dislike certain maps due to the theme or layout. Theme because I’m personally sick of and disinterested in human/industrial themed maps, and want to see more Covenant or Forerunner ones. (Seriously, we’ve only gotten TWO Forerunner maps, one of which was post-launch.) And layout because some layouts are just so complex that they become bland and dis-interesting.

Because not everyone likes the same stuff.

I have to admit I laughed at that Futurama meme. That’s why I said from my perspective at the end. I’m not saying I was right and the other person is wrong.

Okay I guess personally there are some maps that I don’t like. I just don’t quit a game though because I don’t like the map. Some people will actually quit just because of that. Which is lame excuse for quitting in my opinion.

I particularly don’t like big maps. I like small/medium maps. I dislike the Haven remake Mercy map but I like Haven in Halo 4. Sometimes I don’t like that one map that’s sort of like Empire? I cant remember its name and Empire I sometimes don’t like. Big maps in a 4vs4 really don’t work well in a game like Halo unless you’re playing big team battle.

I’d say Empire and its equivalent are too big for 4vs4. I also don’t like Coliseum.

My favorites tend to be Overgrowth, Truth, Regret, Fathom and The Rig. Probably 1 or 2 other small maps I’m forgetting.

I actually dislike most Forge maps because they all look artificial and fake, especially when they use the standard “clean metal” textures that just look like silver gradients.
That’s just me though. I like to get immersed in the levels games have while most Forge maps are all about layout and map design rather than eye candy. Not that there’s anything wrong with that though.

the only one i truly dislike is White Cell. Although Molten is also not my favorite. both of these maps it isn’t the map itself but that the confrontations really only happen on about half the map and the rest is pretty much ignored.

Sometimes people just don’t click with a map. It happens.
I STILL haven’t gotten the hang of Guardian from Halo 3. It just…doesn’t feel right to me.

Worst Halo map I’ve ever had to play on. I seriously wonder what the multiplayer team was on when they designed this.

…because some maps, like Overgrowth for example, just do not facilitate good or interesting gameplay.

In Overgrowth, there are very little interesting sight lines, it’s ultra campy… it’s a haven for Spartan Charging… every route is ultra secluded…

It’s just not good.

I know most of the maps and I still dislike them, your opinion is that others opinions are wrong…very grown up of you

Because maps can have terrible design, like unearthed or whatever it’s called, having 2 neutral wasps!

Am I the only person on these forums that likes overgrowth?
