I dont feel much motivation to play right now

I actually do really like this game, but right now I just cant be bothered to play it. This is for a few reasons and here are some of my solutions/top priority fixes:

  1. Desync/Lag: This problem is still so bad that it makes trying to play feel pointless. Noone wants to play a game where it rubber bands every few seconds, the ping is consistently high and people seem to teleport constantly. Fixing server and connection problems needs to be top priority if 343 want people to keep playing.

  2. The Playlist System: The system and playlists we have in the game right now feel very restrictive and a lot of fan favourites are stuck in rotating playlists or not in the game at all. Using the MCC Match Composer as starting point for inspiration, here is what they could do (with room to add to it and improve it over time):

Infinite Match Composer (Social Matchmaking)
Player Count Select: FFA (8 Player), Doubles (2v2), Arena (4v4), BTB (12v12/24 Player)
FFA Modes: Slayer, HCS Slayer, Action Sack (Ninja Slayer, Rock N Repulsors, Purple Reign, Kong Slayer), Fiesta, Snipers (S7s Only), Escalation Slayer (Gun Game).
Doubles Modes: Slayer, BR Slayer, Action Sack, Snipers, Fiesta, Objective (Oddball, CTF), Survivors (Attrition, Elimination, Dodgeball).
Arena Modes: Slayer, BR Slayer, Action Sack, Snipers, Fiesta, Objective (Oddball, CTF, Strongholds, KOTH, Land Grab, One Flag), Tactical Slayer, Survivors (Attrition, Elimination, Dodgeball).
BTB Modes: Team Slayer, Team Objective (CTF, Total Control, Stockpile), Fiesta, Snipers, Infection, Last Spartan Standing.

  1. Matchmaking: Easing up on the SBMM and other restrictions in Social playlists would hopefully help improve the quality of matches and allow friends to play together and have more casual fun. Social FFA should allow fireteams too. The social side of the game should allow friends to have as much casual fun as possible together.

  2. Pregame Lobbies: This system has really helped in the past and would have good benefit for Infinite. It would let players see the lobby fill up, potentially chat and party up while waiting for a game and Map/Mode Veto would help people skip unfavorable maps/modes (which is good for 343 to check what people do and dont like to play) and therefore improve the quality of matchmaking and hopefully lead to less people quitting games too.

  3. Customization: Cross Core needs to be implemented further (as much as possible). People are spending money on the game and deserve the freedom to customize their spartan in any way they like.

  4. Split Screen Co-Op: This may seem like a small feature but I do think its important to add this at some point soon. People still love playing games on the same system with their family/partner/friends.

If you have other games to play, it’s good to occasionally take a break from it and play them. Or hell, just do something else for a while. It’s actually a rather healthy thing to do with just about everything.

We’ll be here when you return to play again.

Tbh, it’s better not to play right now until just before season 3, the desync and the servers issue right now arent worth your mental health.

Amen. Once you’re done with the weekly challenges, which often aren’t worth it IMO - a stance, emblem or a charm are just not worth the time if you ask me - there’s really little to no reason to play the game, the fun factor is almost non-existent due to desync/lag, lack of playlists to choose from, and lackluster customization/progress systems. Just hop into a few fiesta matches where you’ll get to play with every gun in the gane, and you’re pretty much done, few such matches basically give you full experience the gane can give you. I miss LSS so much, would love to play some FFA from time to time, or TDM without that awful VR loadout, but I guess just extending the playlist to 15-20 positions instead of swapping modes in and out every week is way beyond 343 competence…

Man, everyone just needs to stop playing in general. Like you, I enjoy the gameplay of Infinite, but the game just has so many problems it’s ridiculous!! Literally 95% of people on my friends list aren’t playing Infinite (40ish players) because of problems like desync, terrible playlists (no ranked team slayer…really???) No local co-op and so on. I barely play anymore. It’s not worth it in it’s current state. Not playing sends a message to 343I. Playing when positive change occurs (like when big SIGNIFICANT change happen in MCC for example) also sends a message :slightly_smiling_face:

I highly recommend to play something else. If enough people do it, it’ll send a message to 343I and MS. Not playing doesn’t mean you hate Halo or even Infinite, so don’t think that either :slightly_smiling_face:

Sean W just made a video about how all the Halo streamers and YouTubers have basically uploaded hardly anything the last 6 months, or completely quit entirely, due to severe lack of content and nothing to hype. You can’t be a content creator if there’s no content to create content for

We waited all this time for Forge, and now that we got it, there’s nothing else to look forward to, unless you want to wait 3 months to pay money for more cosmetics. If you are satisfied with your Spartan, or don’t spend money, then there’s literally nothing else to look forward to.

At the end of the day, it’s just not as fun as all the other Halo games. Once you take away the shiny cosmetics, you’re left with a pretty generic Halo inspired corporate sterilized modern cash grab fps, with the only thing coming on the horizon in the next year or two is that Battle Royale that half of the people don’t even want

Just play MCC. Even if they add more cosmetics, even if they give us playable Elites, the game still will be exactly the same as it is, but with just more cosmetic things to buy

Nothing that anybody wants is coming anytime soon. They won’t even be adding Forge map playlists to matchmaking for six to nine months. If you’re not having fun now, just give up

I don’t blame you, I only play Infinite’s Multiplayer for Bot Bootcamp since I try to avoid playing PvP as much as possible (aside from today to finish Winter Contingency II for a few PvP’s) and I don’t see myself playing a lot again until Season 3 goes live on March 7th.

I have to say I’m in a similar boat, video games, not just Halo Infinite, aren’t as satisfying or enjoyable as they used to be. Nonetheless, I understand why some players can find the game’s current circumstances to detract from their experience.

I can see where you’re coming from and feel like that is completely valid

  1. The Playlist System: The system and playlists we have in the game right now feel very restrictive and a lot of fan favourites are stuck in rotating playlists or not in the game at all.

I completely agree with this, and feel like this could be the ā€˜easiest’ thing to ammend to retain the population, keeping it fun, interesting & balanced

I will be creating a thread about this, as I feel that there is far too much rotation for the playlists provided & this is leaving players feeling jaded and restricted

Infinite Match Composer (Social Matchmaking)

I do appreciate this idea, but I will say that i don’t feel like all of the modes that you have proposed would be possible; given infinite’s current population

I read in the November/December Playlist update they have taken inspiration from Halo 5 and MCC regarding their rotational playlist system. Mainly referring to Halo 5, this system was implemented to make up for the lack of population, and maintain a healthy population count in the available playlists

I feel like the idea you have is great, and could easily be integrated with the current modes in Matchmaking; keeping in mind the Game’s capabilities of having a number of playlists available, as well as the Infinite population

  1. Customization: Cross Core needs to be implemented further (as much as possible). People are spending money on the game and deserve the freedom to customize their spartan in any way they like.

From what I have heard in a recent Sean W video, there has been a leak for this & it should become a reality in Halo Infinite - if anyone has further clarification on this it would be very much appreciated, but I am very confident that this was a confirmed leak*

Great post homie

Thank you for sharing, and again, can completely understand where you are coming from; it is perfectly valid for you to feel the way that you do

Screw the content creators, they can always find another game to make vids about or just get a real job. People like Sean W and others are one of the reasons the game is what it is and 343 is constantly confused and doesn’t know what to do, like, how many of his and other creators vids just in the title alone state how ā€œ343 is listening to us!ā€, ā€œthey finally listenedā€™ā€, "Halo is so good now!ā€œlā€ etc. just because they added cross visors… Like wow, now that was a serious issue with the game wasn’t it? Or because 343 added a new mode from previous Halos, but those creators forget to mention that 343 took away other mode in return… Forge was finally added, cool, but the vast majority of gamers don’t care and their whole experience will be based on the base, original game and Quick Play anyway, which remains broken.

They just keep convincing 343 (and fooling the community) that all those tiny, irrelevant, basically cosmetics changes actually make the game any better, whereas the real issues, and I mean FUNDAMENTAL issues like lag/desync, forced crossplay, terrible controls (too small sensivity scale + AA being attached to the wrong stick), lack of game modes (should be at least 20 positions to choose by now), theater being basically useless since launch, store being barely functional (timed availability + predatory bundles), stuff like that aren’t being even talked about, heh, more than that - 343 actually has the audacity to say that desync it’s on their priority list… The game deserves to die so that MS tooks notice and finally pulls out the live support plug from 343, disband them altogether and give the franchise to someone competent like ID or something.

I got the Santa Hat unlocked two days ago. Anymore I’m generally feeling more frustrated than anything during my play sessions.

After the beta + year 1, I find myself really disliking a lot of system design decisions that were made for Infinite every time I’m playing

Option to disable crossplay kill this game immediately

In the beginning, I was a little skeptical of 343’s plans at first, but now, I feel the same way as you. No matter how familiar the gameplay may be to Halo 5’s, Infinite just doesn’t feel like the same Halo to me anymore. Sure, it plays pretty similar to a Halo title, but the unexpected and unnecessary changes they made to nearly everything else around the gameplay really put a huge dent in Infinite. I am constantly reminded of this every time I play the game and it demoralizes me match after match until eventually after two or three matches, I have had enough of playing Halo and I move on to another game.

The waiting is a whole other factor that I can’t stand when it comes to 343’s Halo. All the waiting and waiting we have to do just to get half baked, mediocre stuff that is bugged, forgettable or not even worth mentioning and to top it off, most of it isn’t even canon to the game’s universe lol what has happened to Halo? This franchise deserved so much more than this.

Will it? If instead of creating 100 matches with 50/50 console vs PC players the matchmaking will create 50 console-only matches and another 50 PC-only games instead?

You see, those kind of things is EXACTLY what’s killing the game, forcing people into things that they don’t want, or things that are irrational and plain stupid. I read the exact same argument agains regional matchmaking, ā€œit’ll kill the community, it has to be global, it’s all goodā€, so people were forced to play at 140-280ms pings and as a result turned away from the game.

Separate playlists are also bad I read, so as a result people can barely play they favorite modes and are instead forced to play the ones they don’t want to play at all, you really think this will keep people playing the game, or rather the opposite?

Banning people for quitting desynced, unplayable games, same deal - it doesn’t stop people from quitting, only from playing the game.

Like I said in one of my posts on this forum - Halo’s absolute worst enemy is its stubborn, blind community and the developer who caters towards it, so at the end of the day you gave a very tiny community who doesn’t even know what they really want in the first place, and then oy complains they cannot play rankeds or other modes because there are so few of you left and the matchmaking is hopeless, well serves you right, you got exactly what you wanted.

Its only good when a new season comes out and only if your willing to purchase it. Unfortunately these are too short lived and you could play other games while waiting for the next season but thats how games get forgotten

Due to the ongoing issues since launch, I mainly only play to complete challenges to get the rewards… Haven’t played the last 2 or 3 weeks since every reward is just a recycled one from past weeks that I already have earned previously. I have played every week since launch, but I honestly dont see myself playing infinite again for quite some time. Its just not enjoyable anymore… Not that it ever was fully enjoyable with this game that has been broken & incomplete since release… Its been over a year now, I dont see it getting better anytime soon.

Cherry on top, emblems that I have paid actual money for (pineapple surprise) are all but missing when you want to put it on a vehicle or weapon… Made a post about it on 12/22 & not one single reply or inquiry from 343 to get it remedied or why it happened in the first place…

You’re in the wrong place if you think I’m a toxic fan like some people on this forum. Adding the option to disable crossplay and matchmaking based on input data made sense at the start of the game when the player base was large. Do you have an example for mcc. Geniuses after a year came up with it to add switches and what did it give? Nothing. Disabling crossplay = can’t find game, enable matchmaking by input = can’t find game. The player base on infinite no longer exists and these switches will either do nothing or kill the game instantly. I’m a mnk player myself and lost a lot of nerves on mcc and infinite due to crossplay and playing against controller aa. If all these features were from the very beginning, including the game browser, preferably with dedicated servers, a slightly different policy of getting xp and items, choosing the modes and maps you want to play, it would probably all look different .I’m right about one thing. The ideas of the halo community and how they work is the weirdest and most toxic I’ve ever seen.

I am well aware it’s a bit too little too late, but at the end of the day, you won’t get back the community if you continue to keep the things that pushed them away in the first place. 343 can add as much cosmetics, maps and modes as they only want, but a broken game remains broken.

Like someone said about forced global matchmaking many months ago- they will continue forcing it under a (false) argument that without it finding matches could take too long, only for the community to dry out because of the constant ridiculous ping, and THEN they’ll switch to regional (on the server side), proudly saying ā€œyou see, we told you that’s exactly what’s gonna happen, now back to global againā€ā€¦ But luckily with S2 arrival they did allow us to toggle regional matchmaking from the menu, it’s actually the default mode now for everyone, and it did wonders, it brought back a ton of people and the game is more alice than it was ever before in the oast half a year or so. But since latest patch the desync is unbearable yet again, so it’s all for nothing I guess.

And those are the kind of bold steps 343 simply needs to take if the game wants to be alive, because if they don’t fix it, when’s the next Halo coming? 6 years? 7? 8? And who’s gonna give it a try anyway after such a disastrous experience with Infinite? And that’s already a F2P game, if people don’t want to play your game even for free that should be alarming as hell.

Everything network related should be a no.1 at 343 right now, the netcode, the matchmaking SBMM, everything. because that’s a no. 1 killer for every single online game.
