Avoiding a problem does not solve a problem, criticism is okay,
But if youre just playing the for fashion/trophies then why play at all? If you want your spartan to look a certain way while you play, who cares how you achieved it? It doesnt diminish the level of skill/or lack there of, you have as a player, if you choose to buy cosmetics.
Unless some feel like others dont deserve certain cosmetics because they didnt earn it?
Remember how many people felt they earned the right to have Recon armor back in Halo 3? Just because they logged in so many hours, or did certain things, or just wanted it?
Grinding out a battlepass doesnt show skills earned in game, it just “rewards” players for suffering through countless hours of drudgery.
I feel like people tolerated the agonising grind cause of the armour customisation, it felt “worth it” cause of that.

100% agreed. It was a HORRID system that absolutely MURDERED custom games. Nobody wanted to play Custom Games, because they wanted their armor! It SUCKED!
You had to grind rank. You had to unlock a specific rank to get particular armors. Do you remember the like, what, Lt. Col. rank cap that MK V was at the end of, until a mid year update where they unlocked the soft cap?
You could not just pick any armor you wanted. You had to unlock to right to even look at it.

I didn’t say it was perfect, I said it was better than Halo Infinite’s system. I would MUCH rather do it the reach way then suffer through this mess.
Nah, you can have that. Discounting the Battle Pass? At least I don’t have to spend a grinded currency to get armor in the progression.
I would prefer the Battle Pass Token system that MCC has. Give you 10 tiers to spend a token on to unlock stuff within that range then level you up to the next range.
AND
You got both shoulder pieces on a single tier rather than just one and then the other.

It’s not a matter of skill, it’s a matter of what’s more enjoyable. Paying ten bucks for armor? Or earning it?
Like the title says, I don’t even care about armor anymore, so they can do whatever the heck they want, but it will not spark my interest. If you like to pay for your armor instead of earning it ok, you do that. I however will use the default.

my point was for them to uphold their promise of “a bunch of free ways to get armor”. as well as im not buying armor that I can get for free in another game. or do something thats engaging with the community

You don’t make any sense. If I want something in this game, all I have to do is spend a few bucks. There’s no such thing as “earning” in this game. The stuff in the battle passes are garbage, and nobody uses the stuff from the free events because they’re meaningless and uglier than the stuff even in the battle pass. Why should I give a damn what someone else wears, or what I wear, when the only thing they had to do was take their wallet out and still suck at the game? It’s insulting to the player base and clearly you lack any form of dignity to feel offended.

Acting like that is part of the problem. People don’t just ‘move on’ because many of us have spent 20+ years with this franchise. If people want change then they have to fight for it. Just telling people to move and ignore the issues isn’t going to fix these issues in the long term and will hurt the future of the IP. It’s like hearing people accepting predatory content just because others are doing it…which is not acceptable.
The F2P excuse is getting old and ridiculous. It was taken out of a fully paid game just so they can push this predatory F2P nonsense and many of us had did not like this decision and many of us did buy the ‘base game’ and would have supported the game if it was a complete game instead of milking out stupid BP’s with the bare minimum.

It’s not just that the old ways of customization/progress/etc are gone now with Infinite… it’s the fact that 343 stripped the old system out and are now trying to sell it back to us in bits and pieces through a drip feed and then calling it ‘technically brand new content’. It’s actually kind of insulting that this company is taking advantage of things like this, but unfortunately younger gamers and some older ones are taking it right on the chin and then turning the other cheek and asking for more… They have become the majority as the old ways fade into the minority.
