I do understand your standpoint of this “game” but you also gotta understand that over time (yes it will probably take a god-awful amount of time) more content will come in. If not when forge comes out people will make their own content. I will say I’m not gonna sit and harp about the game. It is the way It is. You could be negative about it or positive about it. I’m very much so in between. Parts of me hate it, other parts of me like it. Does it need work. Yes. Lots of it. But it’s pretty unreasonable to sit and be mad about it all the time. I do feel it will get better. It needs time really.

Everyone always brings this up but here’s the thing. How many maps would they even appear on together? The classic shotty would be treated as a power weapon, and most maps only feature one power weapon spawn and there isn’t a single map in the entire game with a more than one dedicated CQB power weapon spawn. The only times these weapons will interact with eachother is in Fiesta, Infection, through drop pods in BTB unless big changes are made to Infinite’s map design.
Even in other Halo games, the two only appeared together on a few maps and when they did they almost never interacted. People didn’t use the Shotguns on The Pit to counter the sword, they used their range advantage, teamshots, and grenades around corners.
Not to mention the plethora of counters to the Sword/Hammer in this game. They counter eachother depending on who outplays who (early hammer swing Trumps sword, late hammer swing loses to it), the repulsor, plasma grenades, thrusting backwards, or even just backstepping with the bulldog are all very strong counters to both of these weapons on their own. It only becomes more difficult when they are supplemented by grapple hooks or thrusters. But plain simple map control will counter that pretty effectively.
People just generally don’t seem to like it when a weapon niche doesn’t have a human weapon in it. I’d argue the Sword and Hammer already create enough redundancy on their own, a third point-blank power weapon where the gameplay loop is get close, hit RT, profit isn’t going to bring any new gameplay depth to the game.
And just to add a cherry on top of this argument: The Bulldog plays near-identically to the Halo CE shotgun. Functioning as a high rate of fire 2-4 shot kill with deep range, or 1 tap melee. The “close quarters one-hit kill machine” most people think of nowadays as the “classic” shotgun didn’t really become a thing until Halo 3 (Halo 2’s shotgun was pathetic). So the Bulldog from a gameplay perspective is even more classic than what people are asking for.
Dude this game died by the 10 month marker, this game mark my words will be abandoned after 2 years at most.
A mix of old and new would be ideal. A couple of old favourites and a couple of brand new ones
This “game” already has been sentenced to die, and sooner or later it will be completely abandoned. Remember Gears 5? They were pushing it so hard to be a killer 1st party AAA title, and yet it was received so negatively. Despite all the improvements it got, it still died. What makes you think Halo TRASHfinite will be any different?
I dont want to see guns return for the sake of nostalgia or padding the sandbox. If guns return, they need to be functionally unique. IMO, the DMR and Carbine just aren’t that unique. It’s a precision gun with x fire rate. We already have one of those, hell we have three.
I’d much rather see functionally unique weapons return like the pro pipe, railgun, sticky detonator, CE Plasma Rifle and Brute Shot over another precision gun.
How is the DMR even going to be balanced? a gun between the BR and Sniper? Isn’t that the Stalker Rifle? Balance is more than just what range a gun is effective at – granted Infinite’s entire sandbox is balanced mostly around range alone
I wouldn’t necessarily say it “died” yes a large chunk of the community left. But players are starting to return if not waiting for forge to come out. Ultimately 343i has two shots they can take to at least partially boost the community. One is the pve modes. That is one factor that a lot of people are craving firefight, war zone, etc. the other factor like I said in a previous post is forge. Forge is another shot at “revival” especially when the players have the ability to make content to begin with. It would be a great tool in order to have more content then the game offers. Last time I checked gears 5 lacked a lot of these things. Granted I haven’t touched the game once.
Who said it was sentenced to die? There’s a boost in infinite content on YouTube and social media (positive content at that) especially with the coming of forge. Like I said in a reply to raven 343 has 2 shots to make it count. Forge and pve. Forge is said to come by September, others are speculating they may release it sooner. The other thing is pve games. That’s another shot that I think would be the coolest out of the lot. Forge made pve firefight map dude. That’s the way to go bro.

I don’t mind old weapons returning to the game if they bring back weapons that add unique value to the game, and not just bringing them back because they can. Adding weapons just to add them because reasons just means a lot of wasted time and effort into something that isn’t going to benefit anyone but add unwanted clutter to the game.
I would agree, except for the one fatal flaw everyone seems to be overlooking in Infinite: CUSTOM GAMES ARE COMPLETELY BROKEN!
Forge and customs are a symbiotic relationship, one cannot thrive if the other is suffering. Forge will come, people will check it out for about a month, then the numbers will drop back down to pre-forge numbers because players will be unable to use their creations as intended. And yes I do believe 343 will never fix Infinite custom games. I haven’t seen them address the issue anywhere so far let alone a plan to fix it.
I mean, it’s Halo Infinite. So there should be as many weapons as there can be, both old and new.
I get not wanting map remakes, Forge can do that job. And it is fun to discover new weapons and how they work in the sandbox and watch them evolve over time. But having some, if not all og weapons back only strengthens the game, not hurt it.

Yea I acknowledge that customs is broken. I’d assume they would have a fix out when releasing forge. If not sooner. Maybe I’m wrong maybe I’m right idk. If they don’t have a fix and they release forge then a LOT more people are gonna be pissed then there already is. Therefor making 343 fix the issue. If they even care that is.
Yeah I especially want the one from Halo CE it could hold the most rounds at a time it is the one you could carry the most extra for and it did more damage than any of the other shotguns and I don’t want it in just PvP I also want it in campaign
I don’t mind having the old weapons in the game. I say yes. Get some of them back.
