6 months is too long. I thin 6 months to enhane campaign with RTX, forge, co-op and dlc campaign sure.
But for MP, they need to start showing results by adding in new content NOW. At least February, even if it is small but consistent improvements and additions.
s2 for May is too long as they made the Battlepass too easy and if it wasn’t for events, there wouldn’t be anything to play for.
I think after all of 343’s constant failures, with Infinite, Microsoft finally stepped in and pulled the plug on 343, and told them “go get our money back anyway possible or we’ll find new employees.”
I’m not sure that makes sense to me. There’s significant crossover between leadership in Xbox and leadership in 343 (one particular name comes to mind), and as for the makers of the game, a lot of it was contracted work.
I think they’ve miscalculated how many people would stick with the game, or operated with the expectation that it would be a flash in the pan, then sustained by whales for a while until they can renew interest with a big update, and repeat the cycle. That would explain the restricted playlist and the lack of crossplay toggle, its designed to work with a small player base long term (who they will continually sell $20 bundles to)
They really need to think on how to retain and attract players again.
I just read an article, here’s the link https://gamingintel.com/battlefield-2042-cheat-provider-performance-issues/
Where cheat provider for BAttlefeild 2042 is shutting down due to how bad the game is doing… Like dang your game has to be doing severely bad population wise for the dudes making the hacks to just pull out.
Apperantly based on steam numbers BAttlefeild 1 has overtaken BAttlefeild 2042 in pupolation…
343 needs to look at that and not get comfortable where they are.
As for content, I have already seen new weapons to be added that weren’t ready before launch. And Forge alone would bring in new content but will take forever for it to appear in Matchmaking. I’d also be surprised if new maps weren’t in the works.
I don’t think anything about the monetization or the content provided in the store will change.
I do think it’s possible for UI improvements to be made but only after a few years. Though, I think adding Controller queue options could be sooner.
Playlists will likely be added, but improvements within the playlists will likely take forever if at all (ie BR starts in BTB or new game modes). This was the same as when it was Bungie.
I really don’t know if desync issues will be fixed and they will try to avoid the question.
Customization options will probably never change because it seems too much in the core of the game.
I actually have to disagree. Leaks have shown, Infection, KOTH, Extraction, Elimination, Attrition to all be close to releasing and who knows what else.
At this point, and I hate to say it, this game is most likely stuck in the pit with the MTXs. I enjoyed the campaign, even though they missed a lot of opportunities for things like multiple ring biomes and an expanded story (they cut out a LOT of it), but the multiplayer is lacking in customization obviously, maps, game modes, and weapons when you compare it to the other halo games. Quick work on this is needed, but don’t get hopes up for customization changes.
Well obviously we’re not gonna get changes to their core business model (which seems to be working). But it’s weird that you highlighted things that would obviously take a long time to implement and then said “we’re not gonna see these for the next several months.”
Like, duh? Some leaks made it seem like additional game modes might not be far off, but building brand new content takes time.
You could always just wait for the roadmap instead of hypothesizing on nothing except for “343 just wants to milk the community for money.”
The loss of players in 2042 is 95%, halo is now 85%, and it’s only a matter of time before it encounters the same situation.
The problem is that halo is a much bigger IP than 2042, and no matter how bad it is, there will be loyal fans to play and 343 will make money.
343 has deceived players over and over again, but there are always people who will continue to believe them.
Every game spikes at launch and sees a decline afterwards. Steam chart only gives a very small picture of active players as only 23 percent of Halo installs are from steam. No stats for the windows store and Xbox itself. Even taking the inaccurate 1:1 estimate to steam the concurrent players is still very healthy. Halo launched in a much better state that 2042 and did/does better that both 2042 and Vanguard soooo…
Im giving the game one more week if things dont change or they wont talk about fixes that matters then im gonna unintall amd never come back to it thier loss i will go back to a game that works
Lol dude ppl are tired of getting broken games at launch they will quit if they launched without being so badly broken the game would never seen such huge drops
I heard the same rhetoric half a month ago, both in the Halo community and in the Battlefield community, but now it’s only going to get worse.
In terms of core gameplay, Halo is much better than 2042, but in terms of empty semi-finished products and various errors in multiplayer mode, as well as delays in the production team, they are the same.
Regardless of whether you do not recognize that the high-level ranking search is significantly slow, it is also filled with the cheating of the Smurf and gold team with Diamond or Onyx, and the ranks environments are collapsed.
I have to say it’s a lot like Battlefield.
This year’s worst cod get a lot criticized him for balance and gun design, but leaving halo and battlefield behind in terms of game completion, richness and update efficiency, and they even cancelled sbmm.
Whether we admit it or not, STEAM data is the most intuitive and transparent data we can see, and 343 doesn’t like public data like bungie.
Data on the largest sales platform on the PC is valuable, and the gaming experience on the old xbox console was disastrous, with people forced to cross play against high-powered PC gamers.
I play with XSX and I get a lot of bugs as well, and since I don’t have a high refresh monitor I’m forced to play at 60 FPS against high refresh players.
And now XSX is still hard to buy, most people are playing with a worse experience, the retention rate of PC is so low, why can’t we assume that the console is the same, and console players still have H5.
Dude I played on my nephew’s One X and dear God it felt like I was rolling on ice one time and that my controller was dragging my character the other time.
I’m on a series x with a Neo QlED 4K Samsung and I can’t play without my 120 refresh rate. I really couldn’t go back to 60 refresh rate.
The top players I know, like anchors or pros, are basically playing on the PC, and they can basically hit around 170 FPS.
There is no doubt that older devices can’t fight them, which is why people are calling for the cancel crossplay or give it a manual switch.
I was disappointed, however, that 343 barely mentioned how to compensate for the confusion and disconnections in the rankings, or the crossplay issues.
It feels like they don’t even see it as a problemIt, It makes me desperate.
They have literally disappointed us at EVERY release. They have yet to release a good finished product for launch at ANY point. Why should I expect anything other then mediocrity at this point?
It’s the engine, the entire game is held together by ducktape because of the crappy slipspace engine (all because -Yoink!- didn’t want to use a third party engine) and now we have to pay. That’s why I think it takes so long for them to add content or implement hotfixes. And that’s why the UI is so stupid and limiting, because they are having to work around the engine
