I dislike Halo 4-5's Art Style

The problem I see with halo 4-5’s art style is that they differ too much from the original halo games.

The MJOLNIR armour looks completely disgusting now, as if it were just a wetsuit with pieces of random metal attached to it. The helmets with the exception of a few mostly look really strange and impractical. Its as if 343 hates visors or something as a lot of the helmets lack them. Also I dislike the way how the under suit is coloured now making the armour just merge into a blob of colour.

The pelican dropship has now been turned into the pelican gunship looking like a fat flying mess. The original design looked so much more streamlined and at the very least somewhat aerodynamic. The design of the marines in the game looks out of place for halo and I just don’t like them. Having said that though I didn’t like their halo reach design either. They should keep them looking how they did in halo 2 anniversary.

Forerunners I mean cough prometheans cough just look like they came out of a transformers film and I hate those films so their art style sucks. All I think of is a orange glowing Megatron. I did like how the sentinels looked in halo 2 anniversary though so that was nice.

You know what just make everything look like how it did in halo 2 anniversary as everything looked good and halo like in that… Except the elites, they still need some work.
By the way when i say halo anniversary I did not mean the multiplayer as that looks like a more vibrant halo 4 and the elite armour sucked.

The way the weapons look needs to be fixed urgently as things like the BR just look weird and the sniper rifle has a VCR glued to it instead of a scope. Also I saw the new rocket launcher in halo 5 and all I have to say to 343 is “are you just trying to piss me off”.

One last thing, what was with the CRS class light cruisers in halo 4, they were supposed to look like manta rays but instead they were just mini CCS class battle cruisers.
343 needs a higher attention to detail.

Yeah I much preferred the original Pelican design. However I liked how the Gunship has little thrusters under its fuselage, that was a nice addition to the design in my opinion. But I actually really like the Battle Rifle art style, to me it looks more advanced that the previous design, however I’m not sure how I feel about the Halo 5 BR because it has a reflex scope sort of thing, but I think you can change that in Warzone, not to sure honestly.

I preferred the classic looks but I wouldn’t say anything here is disgusting, thats just exaggeration.

Everyone has their own opinions on everything. Some people don’t like the new art style of the new Halos, and other people like it.

I think you make a mistake if you assume that any of these games look the way the conceptual artists wanted them to look to begin with. It’s not at all outside the realm of possibility that Halo CE would have looked exactly like Halo 4 if the original xbox had the horsepower to render the imagery as the designers intended it to look. Or, to put it another way, the original artists might not have bothered to make the game look like Halo 4 simply because they knew it wan’t possible for the hardware to fulfill their vision.

In the end, as long as my Spartan has two arms, two legs, and doesn’t look like Mickey Mouse then I’m okay with whatever it is that the conceptual artists come up with. They’re the pros, not me.

Didn’t like H4, but H5 seems to be back on track.

Halo seems to be trending toward plasticy, in armor and art design. Bright colors, fake looking facades, neon lights.

Compare the design of the most popular 4 v 4 multiplayer maps since Halo 2, and you’ll see what direction this franchise took.

Lockout vs. Guardian vs. Countdown vs. Haven

Haven is a total mess, compared to the realistic feel of every single map before it. The asthetic design that contained realistic looks was lost in Reach. Now everything is bright, shiny, and autotuned.

Welp, FOTUS is confirmed to be returning in Halo 5. Hopefully it’ll be the only goofy Halo 4 armor to be returning, but I’m managing my expectations by expecting the worst.

A unicorn helmet. In Halo.

I like the original classic art styles too

Yeah, that’s my only gripe about the new direction so far. Not a big fan of the plastic look, I wish they would use the same style as Halo 2A’s campaign. I thought that looked fantastic. (Didn’t look plastic at all too)

I think this directly correlates to the T rating. The game doesn’t look real anymore.

When did it ever look “real”? Halo has almost always had pretty bright and cartoony graphics and color schemes.

Sometimes, but this time it looks a lot different. I think it has to do with lightning, everything seems more bright in halo 5.

Reach, for one. Halo 2, for 2. CE’s graphics were so good in the day that that has to count for something too. The structures also seemed much more real. Much less strange lights and plastic forerunner architecture.
