So I was remaking one of my big zombie mall maps from halo reach I created. I used a lot of coliseum walls, and 5x5 flat blocks… Anyway, I was making it, and all of a sudden my forge game stopped generating shadows correctly. This happens to my buddy, and I was like wtf? We had no clue why, but now i think realized its because I generated too much shadows! D: this is a little lame because I make a lot of large scale maps. I can imagine this happening to anybody else who mAkes any large indoor maps too.
Did anyone else notice this? I know I can’t be the only one along with my buddy.
Please 343, read this! It’s is a huge concern to me as a very big forger. Other then that, beautiful game!
It’s happening to me right now. I’m almost finished (98%) with a remake of ‘The Pit’ and I added one too many objects. I still have 1500 in budget left, but when I went to add another block to just fill some of the holes I have around my map, it spawned bright white. When I went back into spartan mode, EVERYTHING was bright white. I didn’t save it, exited, and reloaded the map. Still EVERYTHING was bright white, no shadows, unplayable. You can’t even see people on the other side of this medium sized map because of the glare of whiteness. I backtracked, deleted the last 5 objects I laid out, went back to spartan mode and it rendered successfully. I went and deleted some items that were very important and reworked some angles and now I’m even closer to being finished, but for now for every object I place, I have to pray that it renders. The map is beautiful with shadows. Here’s hoping!
There needs to be an option to turn off lighting because it goes from normal/dark to TOO BRIGHT when standing in various places and looking around. This actually caused my monitor to start glitching out last week bc the lighting was just flashing from regular to SUPER BRIGHT repeatedly. I’m playing on a Samsung SA500 27" LED and the lighting is just unacceptable when looking around on many of the maps. When it started glitching (static streaks across screen) i switched from VGA to HDMI for a quick fix but I don’t like HDMI bc of the slight increase of input lag so i switched back to VGA. Please make an option to turn off lighting or if there is one let me know before my xbox and or monitor explodes from the drastic dynamic constant changes of brightness.
yup i have the same problem, its driving me crazy. Forge has been the best part of the last two halo games but it is broken on this one. 343 wont fix it so i quit forging. No patches or response from them for any bugs at all.

Well idk about quitting forging… I mean that’s a little drastic and whiny, I’m not done forging, I just hope they fix it!
Well, I’m sure glad I’m not the only one! I thought I was doing something wrong. Anyway I’m just gona have to start a big topic on here for the forging shadow part D:
