I didnt like the campaign

“oKaY, ByE”
beat ya to it

should probably start off sayin i didnt play through it all, i refunded the game cause i dont wanna waste 60 bucks on something this shallow. pretty sure that means theres gonna be at least one guy sayin “He WhInEs AboUt ThE cAmPaIgN BuT didNt FiNiSh iT” but whatever

story
so if any of my complaints have issues it oughta be this cause the story didnt get me hooked at all, but this is what i know

right of the bad the way this game starts is just weird, were on the infinity and the banished are attackin it. why are we on the infinity? what happened between 5 and infinite that we got here? why are the banished here? wheres the spirit of fire? its so weird to have the opening scene be some action scene but never actually flashback to what happened before. and apperantly atriox is dead and cortana is defeated? huh???
except the end twist is that atriox is not dead. yeah good twist guys, you killed a char off screen and then revealed you didnt do that, amazing

onestly the biggest question i had the whole time. was where is everyone? lasky, blue team, osiris, arbiter, anyone. where are they? i know some of em are in the logs but why should important info like that be thrown into some logs? i really hoped something awesome was gonna happen like a giant reinforcement of i dunno, arby and shipmaster showin up to help out but nope, nothing like that

like i said i stopped bein hooked real quick. the game turns into a fetch quest for cortana 2 and then they start talkin about the reclamation and all those other halo terms and i just fall asleep. im fine with halo buzzwords if the crap around it is cool, which aint the case here
speakina that

cutscenes
i hate the cutscenes in this game. theyre done the same way mgs5 does it where the camera never cuts. this basically limits the cutscenes to only be in one room and never really have anything grand. halo 2 opening? not possible with no cuts. give the covenant back their bomb, assault on the ark, all the cool halo cutscenes wouldnt be possible with this style. most of the cutscenes are just chief and cortana 2 standin around and talkin. sometimes this brute guy shows up and talks instead, sometimes pilot guy talks. yeah real fun

the open world
the open world is basically the second mission of ce but bigger. the problem is that the second mission of halo ce is overhyped by halo youtubers and aint even close to bein as good as people like that make it out to be. all you do is go from point a to point b in an empty valley to the same bases. thats what zeta halo is: an empty valley. i mean theres some bases here and there i guess but like, thats literally ubisoft tier stuff. why are there no other biomes?
halo ce, a 20 year old game had valleys, mountains, desert, beaches, snow, swamps and this 60 bucks campaing has a valley and thats it.

other than the valley, you got some different rooms you go through. you either go through banished rooms, which are red or forerunners rooms, which are blue. great

it literally feels like 3 hours in the game has already shown you everything. why didnt they try to actually add some cool stuff? like:
-larger unsc bases like the halo wars bases that you can grow over time insteada just the boring platforms
-a scarab battle (seriously i cant believe theres no scarab battle here, the map is literally made for one to walk around in),
-why no unsc ship levels? those were always some of my favs
-THE FLOOD
hell i can probably keep goin. but if the enviroments are this dull causa the open world, maybe dont do open world

final thoughts
the worst part about this campaign is that its 60 bucks. every halo game before was 60 bucks too yeah, but they came with multiplayer, which is free for infinite and infinite adds nothing in return. if it was 30 bucks itd still be boring but least the price woulda been okay. but just like the store, the campaign is overpriced

anyway im done, and to be honest im kinda done with halo in general. this company has been lettin me down for a decade straight and at this point i just gotta accept well never get great campaigns like halo 2 or 3 ever again

5 years for this

I think the lack of content is mostly a result of feature creep… I believe that 343i intended or at least planned to have some really ambitious stuff, but couldn’t pull it off in time so lot of things were cut.

People can say a lot about 343i but one thing they are not is tame. 343i are going to impress folks over time.

This. SO MUCH. Sure CE was a good game. But the way that level is speedrun is a testament to how its design is actually converse to being able to play the game exactly how YOU want. Sure you don’t have to pick up the two obvious sniper rifles. But do you really want to use just an AR, Magnum, and maybe Needler to clear out wave after wave of Covenant dropship? No. Do you have any choice in taking the warhog? No actually. There’s a jump you can’t make before the light bridge. Would you stop using the warthog after the tunnel? No because it’s faster and more fun than the AR and Sniper Rifle.

Based on the gametype stockpile in BTB I was deathly afraid the campaign would be watered down and equivalent to FO4 settlements and FO76 prior to a severe overhaul.

Oh yeah the begining was awfull ! The defeat of the Infinity, the biggest and most important ship of all humanity, appear in a quick cinematic and it’s disappointing. We should have fight the Banished in the Infinity and live this defeat ourselves.

Created, Cortana … everything from last Halo was erased, it’s nonsense.

The history wasn’t the best, we only fight banished, every Halo had multi faction. The harbinger and skrimmer are irrelevant in the history.

I’m also disappointed by this campaign

Glad I’m not the only one who hates this campaign. Rinse & repeat of older games
