I realized my new found hate for the mangler and how unreliable it is. That and the sidekick easily being worse than the H2 pistol, seriously it needs a nice little boot from the game.
I really hate this event and this super boring Slayer variant (any weapon loadout is boring in SWAT), but I have no problem with the Mangler or its consistency. I went 16:8 in a match on Aquarius and got plenty of headshots. It takes some practice to get the feel of it due to the slow projectile and drop due to gravity.
I did really bad with the mangler in a match I had. I think I got more kills by meleeing people instead lol.
I think I was treating it way to much like a hitscan weapon when I need to lead shots more with it.
It’s a bit wonky for me, but I just chalk that up to desync. The key I found was knowing where to aim and adjusting that depending on the situation.
- Always try to go for the head
- If you hit the body by accident, just which to body shots.
- If you’re hit first, go for the head no matter what.
What hurts the sidekick is the bloom, which encourages mashing and punishes players for trying to be precise.
Sidekick is fine in general but I find Tactial Sidekick matches often degrade into people taking pot shots across the map (perhaps they think it should have the accuracy and range of the BR which it does not). This is especially terrible on Behemoth.
I found Tactial Mangler a fun new addition. I did well and it really makes for a different flow of the games compared to regular Tactical Slayer.
My bigger issue than the modes where some of the challenges: backsmacks (used a challenge swap), Killjoys (never had an issue with those in Tactical Slayer or Fiesta but your mileage may vary) and challenges tied to modes (get kills with Sidekick, get kills with Manglers).
