I don’t know if it needs a little more tracking or less needles for the super combine or both, but I’d love to see the Needler become a little more powerful. My favorite Needler is when it’s a sleeper power weapon — one that does lots of pink explosions to hilarious effect — so it’d be nice to see it get a buff.
Or maybe I’m doing it wrong. Anybody having success with the Needler? Do you think there’s something I’m missing or doing wrong?
I’ve found it pretty op when it comes to clearing long Hallways. Enemies can’t really dodge the needles and die very quickly. Possibly supposed to be its niche?
If that’s the case then that’d take some getting used to. I’m not sure my brain is big enough to recognize when I’m in a long hallway AND I have the Needler to switch to. Haha.
I think its very strong, especially at close range, which I never could do in any other Halo game. I am not happy about buffing more weapons since the last time they did this with guardians it felt like I was playing a cod game with sci fi skin, death in a second or less
Agreed. Don’t know why I have to use a clip and a half to get a supercombine. And that’s if I live long enough to get that many rounds off. Tracking on the needles is poor at best.
I don’t particular enjoy the explosive visual, however I think functionally it is fine. I noticed it is very difficult to kill with it if the target is moving perpendicular to you but is super easy if they are not moving much. Bots also dominate with it for some reason, lmao
IMO I find the Needler to be right where it should be. Long as your reticule is red, lay into that bad boy. Soon as you get the explode, reload. Which btw seems to be the fastest reload of any weapon. A flick of the wrist and you are ready to go again.
I average about 3 kills per life with it alone, more if a pick up Xtra ammo.
It’s still the ultimate flanking weapon. An unaware opponent dies very sudden and it’s almost instant reload allows for great kill chaining.
However what I don’t like is that it feels like it’s filling the SMG role for close quarters. I’d rather have it back at its medium range glory focussing on supercombines instead of just pumping out needles like bullets at close range.
By the way the needler weapon drill seems really strange. Needles don’t track at all and getting a high score is mostly trying to keep the crosshair a meter in front of targets in the hope they stick?
I’ve been getting a little better with it, perhaps I’ve just been still adjusting from Halo 5 expectations. I think I just have to be a little better with the red reticule shooting.
