I used to love Halo very much. I was willing to believe once again in 343 Indutries, which will surely shine again someday.
But this update information did nothing to improve the situation of this game. Tears naturally flowed down my face when I saw the information and I realized the death of the Halo brand.
With no mention of Halo at recent Xbox events, I am sensing the end of the Halo brand. The face of the new Xbox should be Call of Duty, Elder Scrolls, Sea of Thieves, or Minecraft. (in fact, it’s becoming that way)
Halo will no longer be good enough. I am really sad.
Halo will still be here, it will just be played by a small niche of players. But you are right, Halo will never be what it once was and it will be undoubtedly eclipsed by pretty much any of Bethesda’s titles and Activision’s big titles too.
Yes, Halo will only decline shakily from now on. Maybe some former fans will play the Master Chief Collection, but I think we’ve reached a point where it’s hard to make a major new game anymore.
Halo is still a billion dollar franchise. Worst case scenario is this is the last FPS Halo and active development completely stops long before the 10 year timeline.
There’s still opportunity to make more tv shows, movies, and books. Heck they just came out with a cookbook lol.
Halo as a franchise is not dead, if Infinite gets cancelled say in 2 years its likely MS just hands it over to a new company and decide to take it a new direction.
I think it’s possible that we won’t see a game for 10 years, because Halo Infinite seems to have failed far more than Halo 5: Guardians.
I personally enjoy some of the TV shows, but I think they are failures in the public eye. Surely 343 Indsutries is keen on making books for enthusiasts. (although I don’t enjoy them enough because they aren’t localized!)
I think it’s time for them to make a decision to continue with the brand, the way 343 Industries has been doing things is definitely not the way to go. Halo will only die a slow death if this continues.
Yes, This is not yet dead. …Not yet.
But the decline of the Halo brand will not stop in the future. There will just be fewer people than there are now, game updates will be worse than ever, and new games may not be released for even longer.
