I was a hardcome competitive player back in Halo 3 and my main goal was to get a 50 in several playlist such as Team slayer, doubles, lone wolf, and Team Swat. It really helped Halo 3 have that competitive feel. Since Halo reach and Halo 4 lacked this competitive feature in Matchmakings, I could care less now if CSR is added. I become so use to playing Halo without a “ranked” playlist that it has lost its appeal to me to even bother about ranking up. I also think its too much of a hassle if you could only view the CSR in the web when it should be ingame and 343 had months to incorporate it when they announced it.
I agree, halo 4 is pretty competitive.
why did you want to get to 50 in each playlist like it was a progression system? when the skill rank are just there to match you up against similar skilled players?
why does it matter so much to you to get to the number that the game says you ought to be playing at? i dont get it.
halo 4 does this already, they just dont show the number.
In Halo 4 there isn’t a significant skill gap for the game to be competitive. CSR will end up just like Reach’s BPR because of the skill gap and the fact in won’t be in game.

I just finished saying it doesnt matter to me anymore
How much less could you care?
> How much less could you care?
In game rankings have been absent in Halo for years now. 343 tries to incorporate them only to have them on waypoint only. So yeah they were gone for so long I could care less and play Halo without worrying about ranking up.

You started with Reach or Halo 4 didn’t you?
I mean really, most players aspired to get the highest rank possible to show they have “skill”. Most players either boosted their 50, or bought it, which was a major exploit in H3. Or, they ended up bridging your host, booting you offline, or JTag aimbotting in general. The last one didn’t happen often at all, but booting and bridging happened too often.
In H3 we didn’t just get 50s to play against people with similar skill, we got them to show off our skill and establish credibility in the community. I remember back before Reach ruined Halo, searching in social playlists in H3 and having lower ranking players go nuts over it, spamming me invites, FRs, etc. Everyone wanted a 50 because it actually took skill to get and showed you were good, rather than today where a high rank just means you play alot and has virtually no bearing on skill level.
Only a small portion of players were good enough to get 50s, and its that competitive motivation that encourages players to continually play and improve. Reach/H4 do not have anything like this.
I remember asking every 50 I saw “How you get a 50 man?!”. Then I’ll get a respond like “Skills, young warrior.” Good and hilarious times…
You could have a good game or a bad game and I’ll never know your true talent level. The number tells me nothing.
I don’t miss the overly competitive or those whose ego needs a 50 next to their name.
That being said, it will be nice to see CSR for the strictly objective game types. Lord how I hated the K/D hoors voting for an objective game just to pad their numbers.
I think you mean you COULDN’T care less, saying you COULD means that you do care in some small capacity.
> halo 4 does this already, they just dont show the number.
Uhh, no it doesn’t? H4’s trueskill matching is just as lenient as Reach’s was. After over a thousand games of slayer total so far, I’m still getting players who have no idea what they’re doing.
> I think you mean you COULDN’T care less, saying you COULD means that you do care in some small capacity.
Nah i just didn’t express myself correctly. Waypoint only rank is a waste of time in my opinion.
Why do people keep saying Reach didn’t have ranks? It did, it was called Arena.
As for Halo 4 CSR I’m excited. We have an official ranking system that we can track, compair to other players, and is used to pair players. I couldn’t care less that its not visible in game.
The highest I could ever achieve in Halo 3 was 15. I tried really hard for years and that’s all I could get. So rank is a non-issue to me.
I would care if I was 14 all over again when Halo 3 came out. About to turn 20 and I just think I would like the idea of CSR, then a day later just say whatever.
When is going to be added

Not really that thing would frequently reset so any progress you did was reset after a while, because of that it might nobody could really show what their true rank was, area was stupid because it only stuck to small maps with little variety. An example arena should have anything like big team, etc… but instead we mostly got the endless grind that is known as the grind to Inheritor.

Believe it or not, some people did not care about ranks like that. I personally believe that it was just about teamwork. Now on FFA it meant a lot more, in my opinion.
