I Complain Because I Care

Halo 4 is a game I really want to love. I loved the campaign, but that can’t support the entire experience by itself. The multiplayer is what should keep me coming back to play but lately more and more and I feel like it has become an obligation to play it.

The only way to get decent exp is to grind in Spartan Ops which gets repetitive FAST. Normally I wouldn’t care so much about ranking up, but I have to rank up to unlock all the various perks and mods that affect the flow of gameplay in War Games. Without them, I’m put immediately at a disadvantage.
On top of this the players I run into and the way the system operates is awful. I get betrayed regularly with no option to boot ever appearing. I get forced into the end of games thanks to JIP. There’s lag in almost every match and the server crashes more times daily than I care to think about. The MM system will start a game with an even number of players, but never even teams; which either makes the match too easy or too difficult to bother with, depending on what team I’m on. There’s balance issues with weapons. Ordnance negates the entire concept of map/weapon control. Certain perks shouldn’t have been removed as a basic player trait just for the sake of adding in an additional perk. There are hardly any Custom Game options and Forge hasn’t improved since Reach anyway.

So why do I still play? If all of these problems bug me to this point why bother with Halo 4? Because I care. If I didn’t care you wouldn’t see me here, posting this. I get that people enjoy Halo 4. I can respect that. What I can’t respect are the people telling “complainers” to shut up and that the game is perfect and that we’re a minority and all other generally terrible things.

We’re being attacked and flammed because we want to enjoy the game.

Halo has always been able to appeal to a wide demographic; hitting a nice balance of gameplay pace and feel. Halo 4, to me, doesn’t strike the same balance. It may to others, but it hasn’t to me and many more.

Why can’t we compromise? Why do these “I Want” v. “Deal With It” arguments always have to have one victor to them?

I was the kinda guy who would tie a Grifball double exp match and hold the tie down so both teams could get the double exp back in Halo 3’s glory days. I like to think I still follow that same idea of fairness.
