I’m buying Halo 4 from a local game store on my campus. And they are not doing any special preorder give aways.

Am I able to preorder from Gamestop, for example, pay the $5 for the armor, but not purchase the game from them?

Or do I have to pick it up the full game from Gamestop to get the armor unlock?

I read that all preorders should be unlocked eventually, besides Fotus, but just wondering in case I would like to start with one of the special ones.

you have to actually purchase the game to get the pre-order bonus.

You have to buy the full game in order to get the pre-order bonus. The whole point of pre-order bonuses is that they provide extra incentive to buy the game at certain retailers.

What you might be able to do is pre-order from gamestop, then return it without opening it. But why go through all that trouble instead of just getting it from gamestop?
