If as suggested AL is so vastly overpowered,I often wonder why players that are aware of it do not take advantage of it?I have a hard time beleiving it is out of some sort code of honor that they adhere to preventing them from exploiting advantages in the game, but perhaps Im wrong. If so it appears that AL finds its self among spawn traps and banshee acrobat bombing as game exploits which have been used by the better players, but AL is the one labeled as the cheapest and providence of the bad, noob player. Now before you think Im upset,Im really not, just kinda curious as to why.
YEA! We could use 10x over shield, and infinte rocket starts too! Everyone could use it and it would make gameplay so much better.
Pls 343 use this idea!!!

You make a good point, Banshee is OP people take advantage of that, Sniper is OP people take advantage of that.
If something is OP it does get taken advantage of but AL isn’t OP it’s just ‘annoying’
(Some people want it nerfed to become unannoying but it will never become unannoying/nerfed-enough for the people that it annoys enough to want it nerfed)
Because AL is a waste of time. I dont want to wait for the kill. You’re gonna die anyway so it just slows down gameplay.
i take advantage of it when i can, but to take full advantage of it requires a capable team. and that is something i almost never have with me.
The reason people don’t use armour lock is because they want to use something more versatile like Sprint, but when someone chooses armour lock that can counter Sprint main advantage they get pissed off. The reason people don’t whine about things like the sniper, evade is because they want to use those things.
People will cry about anything that doesn’t benefit them, that’s why jetpack, armour lock are whined about and sniper/evade are not.

So I take it you dont use it for the sake of the community.

I condone all forms of killing and do not consider it cheap to kill in any way you are able to,as long as you dont use aimbots and that sort of thing.
> Because AL is a waste of time. I dont want to wait for the kill. You’re gonna die anyway so it just slows down gameplay.
So time is the issue for you,and many have thought the same as you and were severly disappointed in the outcome of my use of AL.

I’m not saying don’t use the sniper or banshee or AL, I use them myself. I was just proving that AL isn’t OP.
Things that are OP(sniper/banshee) are used, But AL is complained about because it’s ‘annoying’ not because it’s OP

I understood, and agree but think that things in the game are not overpowered, mearly of more use in effective killing.I understand why people think is OP,what I dont get is why people who beleive that it give such a tremendous advantage do not exploit it and reserve so much time to complain about it.

A fair question with a fairly simple answer but I will try to go into depth.
I will use the fighting game example which has been used before.
Within this example, I am going to use a fighting game as a demonstration. The fighting game will be very basic; Punches, blocks, and kicks. Now, in order to make a balanced fighting game, there needs to be a counter to just about everything; whether it be skill based such as Street Fighters forward + block, has to be timed perfectly, or Super Smash Brothers “bubble”. Now, we will get on to the point.
In this basic fighting game, the “block” would be the armor lock. Now, in order to put this into perspective, you can not crouch shot, throw, nor break the block until the blockee stops his defenses. This is essentially a “get out of jail free card”. This is what Armour Lock is effectively doing. What should have been a fatal situation is now easily eluded at a press of a button. It is a “block” button with out a counter “throw” option.
Now to put the solution on the platter in order to broaden on why the current Armour Lock is “over powered”. 343i has developed a “throw”. The answer to the “throw” has been “damaging” the Armour Lock ability meter; by putting damage on an Armour Locked opponent, you can essentially “throw” him out of the “block” state he is in. Which in turn “balances” Armour Lock.
I don’t think it’s OP as much as I think it’s just annoying. The vast majority of players I see who use it will go into AL right in the open just to delay their death. I’ve already gotten rid of their shields, there’s no cover anywhere for them to run to, and most of the time they don’t announce that I’m shooting at them. People who use it “properly” (i.e. going into AL when a rocket is fired at them) I actually don’t mind all that much. Sure, it’s aggravating that they made me waste ammo on them, but they used it the way it was intended to be used.
Also, I find Sprint/Evade more versatile in that I can use it for many different things rather than deflecting damage.
For me, its because this game moves so damn slow, that I need sprint to not feel like turtle.
when good players do use armour lock with teamwork it becomes a big frustration.
you’re about to kill the person, he armour locks and calls out to kill you but there is no point in you calling out because there is 2 people there and the person who armour locked will have shields when he comes out.
generally i don’t use armour lock because it slows down gameplay and makes games just dull and boring and i think this goes for alot of players who don’t use it aswell.
I don’t find Armor Lock to be my AA of choice even though it is overpowered compared to the other AAs. I find Sprint more suitable to my playstyle.
> Because AL is a waste of time. I dont want to wait for the kill. You’re gonna die anyway so it just slows down gameplay.
Thank you for admitting that people using AL can and do die.

Obviously people who use AL can and do die (when they’re not pressing LT, of course). Nobody ever said otherwise.
/facepalm

so pausing the game is a good thing?
it doesn’t slow the game down as such, if it was being slowed down then there would still be action going on but with armour lock all action is halted so the game is paused.

I understand the dynamics of the arguments made in favor of the opinion thats its overpowered,my question is why is it not exploited by players who appear to no problem using other game exploits such as spawn traps without the same shame associated. It has been pointed out to me that things such as spawn traps do not happen with a push of a button, but from my point of veiw a game exploit is a game exploit.Maybe I veiw things in a too symplistic way.
