Recently I navigated to the custom games menu option but could not find infection in the game-types list. Do I need to modify an existing game-type? Infection has been in Halo 3, Halo: Reach, and Halo 4, and Halo: The Master Chief Collection, so I’m just assuming it is in Halo 5 as well.
Aww Buddy I got news for you
I’m pretty sure that’s not a thing in Halo 5.
I’m going to assume you’re trolling very poorly.
I’m assuming you either know the answer and are attempting to make a point, or are legitimately confused. In either case, the answer I have for you is this: 343i confirmed on another site (someone will post a link in the thread eventually) that Infection was being worked on as of January. In all likelihood, it will release with the March Update, which shouldn’t be more than 4 weeks away. However, there are several “Honor-Rules” Infection Custom Games out there on Greenskull’s and others File Shares for you to play in the meantime.

Infection is coming in a future update
Oh okay, I thought I was missing something. Now I’m even more confused, however. Was the game-type not popular enough in previous halo titles to justify its removal? Did 343 decide that spending one or two days of development time modeling, rigging, texturing, and animating a single flood asset was too much? If so, what’s wrong with forgetting about the fancy flood model and just adding in the 3 or 4 lines of code needed to create the game-type? Surely something can be whipped together in time for the next major update, assuming that at least 10% of Halo 5’s population would be interested in something like that. I doubt any “decision-maker” at 343 will read this, but if they do, I’m sure plenty of people would be excited about it. This may deserve a poll.EDIT: I am glad they will add it in to the game eventually. If everyone that reads this is okay with buying unfinished games, that’s completely fine and that’s their choice, but I don’t think essential features should be left out at launch, especially for a triple A console seller like Halo. Again, just my opinion, and consumer sales on future Halo titles will determine if I hold the majority opinion or not. Thanks for reading if you made it this far.
Welcome to halo 5. Where game types are barebones
I hate to break it to you, but there is no infection in Halo 5
I hate to burst your bubble and -Yoink- all over your dreams and aspirations, but there is no infection in Halo 5: Guardians.

A lot of features that defined Halo are not present in Halo 5. It released as an extremely barebones game despite the same 3 year development cycle.

He’s got about a days worth of total playtime; he’s trolling.
Can’t find infection?
That’s usually good news…
“Where are my gametypes 343? If you didnt put it in the game at launch, are you going to add them in very soon?” - Every Halo Gamer Ever
“lol nope” - 343
How are you level 30 and just now realizing that there is no infection right now.

Because he is trolling, and very poorly at that.
