I can't connect with Locke *Spoilers* (maybe)

I just finished Halo 5 campaign. I have to say, it was by far and away the least interesting campaign in the 5 numbered Halo games. I was very disappointed. It felt extremely disconnected and unfinished to me.

Keep in mind, I’ve read every Halo book and played all the games; I’m a lore nut. I’m very open minded and not one of the ‘Master Chief only’ people at all. I loved ODST and Reach Characters. I love the Halo Universe. With that being said…

I can’t connect with Locke, at all. Was very unimpressed with Nightfall on the Halo channel. He feels overly generic and didn’t have a niche. Seriously, one of the least fun main characters I’ve played with in a video game. I simply didn’t have a lot fun playing him in Halo 5.

What do you all think? Like Halo 5 story? Like Locke as a new potential co-main character?

Sorry to have a negative post (I can’t stand these types of posts on Waypoint ion general)… But I had to mention it b/c I feel real strong that this game was a bad direction for Halo. I’ve loved Halo 1-4 so much. This one just feels… Off. It feels so generic like it’s going big but majorly lacking focus.

The gameplay took some getting used to, but I think MM could have some nice times once BTB is in the mix. This game is a solid overall package and I still look forward to Halo 6. I just have my doubts for the first time (I loved Halo 4 from day one, and had zero doubts coming into Halo 5 despite the hate for Halo 4). This game simply didn’t feel good to me.

I hope I’m in the minority on this ):

I like the game a lot, the gameplay, the skulls, the collectables, multiplayer…but you are right, it does lack a Halo feel. The story was confusing and short and yes it does kinda bother me that none of the trailers leading up to the game had anything to do with what the game was actually about.
