I cant believe to "fix" the mangler, 343 made all other weapon melee combos ttk longer by reducing melee damage

who makes these decisions? lol

It just seems to be knee jerk reaction. Why not just buff the other weapons to make it just a little harder for the Mangler to get a melee. But some will say that could reduce the overall TTK in the matches. OK, no problem, just reduce the ridiculously long respawn time and everyone gets to spend more whacking everyone else and having more fun.

or how about not change any stats and start with BR/mangler

TTK is somewhat a problem in Infinite for players. Buffing damage just to make the mangler harder, is just buffing the TTK as a problem a whole. Nerfing theoretically solves both problems. Maybe the Mangler now its a 2 shot melee, but every other weapon now needs extra shots to get a melee kill as well. Slowing TTK, and damage to Mangler without actually feeling “Nerfed” with all other weapons nerfed as well.

How does that make sense, you’re literally asking for spawning in with top precision/melee weapons and neglecting any point to grab anything else that isn’t a power. Its breaking the mechanics of the game?

not really. do all the other weapons do the same job as the mangler? no. they are different toys to play with and will surprise your opponent regardless. I could swap my mangler for a plasma pistol ( if it was reliable like past halo’s plasma pistols) and win a medium range battle quicker than a player with mangler.

And if I wanted to, i could re-pick up the mangler of a dead body to keep my opponents guessing.

people are gonna feel that slower ttk. They will feel like everything got nerfed.

Dude. Are you dense or ?
Of If melee as a whole has been reduced in damage than the TTK will be longer for every weapon, including the mangler itself.

A BR is currently a 2x3 burst melee kill. It will now likely be a 3x3 burst melee kill etc.

Longer ttk for everything because melee damage is now weaker.

that is what the title says. The point is, who wanted a longer ttk for all other weapons?

No one. It’s a pathetic blanket solution to address an issue with a single weapon. And probably to help melee desync being less apparent.

They probably have no idea how to fix melee desync or phase through. And so by reducing melee damage there are less instances of it occurring because people are not dying as quickly from melee.

Typical 343i……

So many changes all at once to attempt to cover up their inability to address or fix real issues

They’ll have to reverse this because they simply cannot just decrease melee damage across the board.

This is proof alone they’ve not play tested anything.

The bit in the blog about asymmetric vehicle drops in BTB play tested internally well but in the wild didn’t work… come on guys everyone is smarter than that. You didn’t play test asymmetric vehicle spawns and somehow think that it was fair and fun. Smarten up.

In this case, it would be much faster to just melee twice with a Sidekick since Sidekick has the fastest melee animation. Why bother ever using a bladed weapon? So much for bladed weapons doing extra melee damage. Now it’ll be negative ttk compared to other weapons with faster rate of fire and faster melee animation. Whoever makes these decisions at 343 has never played the game.

btb was purposely designed to be random. they said the unequal weapon starts was a bug. I dont buy it. Are the random ordanance drops a bug too?

The melee fix seems really stupid. Nobody said melee was a problem. And quite frankly the mangler is not really a problem either. Sure, at high level onyx it probably is a little cheap, but in 95% of games I play it is pretty irrelevant. The best solution would have been only one on a map at once.

Not sure why 343 are making a big change to a well balanced sandbox just because a dozen pro players are throwing a strop.

Fun thing is: WHO complaint about the mangler? No ine here in this forum at least…

Pro players deliverd a good solution but nope… 343 makes it useless.

Only fix Mangler needed was putting it on a red rack.

Utterly incompetent developers.

This, it’s a power weapon!

It’s clearly a Tier 2 mistakenly classified as a Tier 1 and placed on a Blue rack, idk how they decide to jump the loops with the blanket nerf instead of just addressing this core issue.

I want to play the flight or demo or whatever before deciding though. I don’t mind Blanket nerfing things so it becomes Reach levels of Melee Damage where it’s 1 melee Shield drain 1 melee full health kill. It’ll also mean those pesky AR > Melee abusers get rekt when they AR charge and don’t get the kill.

What kind of mental game do you think you’re playing, Many weapons in Infinite are very situational while many secondary weapons get jobs done much more efficient than others. I believe a well rounded player can make good with the Mangler a majority of his games, just like how nobody will switch out a BR for any other match.

Everyone wanted longer ttk. Everyone felt like the weapons did so much for very little effort. 343i believed nerfing a single weapon will break the combat flow of that weapon on the board with their weapon system, so nerfing the damage altogether keeps the combat flow consistent, just slower. Not faster.
