I decided to buy this game today, even though I have been reading the forums whenever I can to check if the servers were starting to improve. I could not believe all the negativity I was seeing and assumed the issues must be really bad, but I went ahead and bought the game because I am a lifelong halo fan. After downloading the game to my HD I began trying to get into games and was surprised when I had very minimal wait times. I’ve been playing the team slayer and btb playlists all night with my friend and have not had to wait longer than 5 mins to find a game for the most part. There were a few games where one team was shorthanded or my friend and I got split up, but besides that it has been pretty much fine.
I really can’t believe some of the negativity I’ve been seeing on this forum, yes there are some issues with MM, but as a life long halo I can’t understand how people are already returning this game. Yes I know people want things NOW, and have little patience when their own hard earned money is involved, but jesus christ the immaturity and impatience I’ve been seeing is saddening, this game is already a great game and will continue to get better.
Amen. Honestly, with 343 saying outright that they are fixing things (and that P2P is a backup system which is a GOOD thing) I don’t get continued hate. But it happens, and people can go about doing that.
It’s problematic, not a problem. And it’s being improved, which regardless- it’s worth the money I shoved into it at least.
It boggles my mind as well. I’m just happy that the opportunity to play Halo 2 again exist in general. Sure, its buggy as hell right now and it sucks that we have to wait for it to work, but the thought of me eventually being able to play continuously stays in my mind. That, and I’m not moronic enough to throw a tantrum to the point I think returning the game (or in some people’s cases the entire console) will make me feel better.
I find it somewhat amusing that the forums are up in arms over the multiplayer meanwhile I play all of the campaigns on all the difficulties, co-op, finding all the skulls and terminals and various secret areas.
The users of Waypoint can continue to have tirades over the game’s multiplayer. I’m going to continue enjoying the campaign as I wait for any and all bugs to be patched.

Basically what I’ve been doing. And I’m enjoying every minute of this nostalgic paradise and reuniting with the scarab gun.
I don’t want to return this game, however I am still extremely disappointed with all it’s flaws.
I have only found 2 games since I got this game at launch, one was incredibly laggy and in the other one my friend and I were split up.
If you’re one of the people who are finding games within 10 minutes (which is still kinda long) then good for you, but you have to realize that there are a lot of other people who are still unable to find games at all.
343 released a server patch to make it shorter wait times. but i havent been on MM much. im on forge makin safari - a map that is simulated above installation 5- but i have noticed that i dont have to wait the 22 minutes like i had to my first game
In all honesty guys, the reason you’re not understanding the negativity is because you aren’t experiencing the brunt of it. I’ve played two games of MP since launch. Two. And thats after easily an hour searching in each instance and a couple of hours overall over the course of the evening after work, with the teams being uneven.
I know that campaigns are they and I’ve been playing them, but I don’t enjoy re-playing campaign’s i’ve done a great deal and got the MCC mostly for MP - as have a lot of people.
The way I see it, the negativity is justified to an extent - not to a “this needs to be returned and we get a refund” level, as there is still a lot of accessible content, but the negativity towards the fact that there is still a massive number of people with MM issues is justifiable to me. It’s not acceptable for a game to be running like this online since launch.
Yeeeaah, living in New Zealand, wait times are still upwards of an hour. Not to mention all the other things that are wrong with matchmaking, like once you finally find a game its 2v5, laggy as hell and then it kicks you halfway through.
Plus partys you make before searching for a game don’t stick with you when you need to back out and restart the search, and if they do and you manage to find a game, they get put on the opposite team! hooray!
I was anticipating huge issues today when I tried out MM for the first time and there were some issues and when they did arise they were annoying but for the most point it has gone pretty smoothly. I know I am probably in the minority and am one of the lucky ones, but if some players like me are getting into lots of games already, then I believe it will continue to improve for others very soon and we can all play the game we love together (thus ending world hunger, kumbaya).
There are way more than just “some issues.” People have every right to be upset with 343 and Microsoft. They paid money for something that is equivalent to an alpha build that was sold to them as a finished product. Once people begin to put up with a game being released like this, then every developer will follow suit and you will see plenty more rushed games that are sold yesterday, launched today, and patched tomorrow. So I’m all for people venting on the forums, they have every right to.
Agreed! It is well worth the little glitches in order to be able to play all of the series on one console!
I wonder if those people who are so negative also want to return their new cars each time a recall is encountered?

How long are they?
I’m in the US and only just tonight did I start playing matchmaking. Was able to play three games. Don’t remember the exact time it took to find game, but I’d guess a good ten minutes or so. Hell, my first match was relatively quick.
Still, its far from the time it usually takes to find a match in comparison to previous Halo games.

That last sentence of yours is absolutely comical.

Pretty bad analogy. I know folk don’t like this excuse, but we just got four Halo games with all of their campaigns and multiplayer for each for $60, with vast improvements put into one of them and some visual tweaks for the rest, and this single fact alone: Halo 2 multiplayer. Sure, its a pretty bad launch, but the issue is going to be resolved at some point. This is farthest from a punch in the face and more so a huge fan service.
No one denies the complaints are justified, but in the case the OP points out, people sometimes go too far and act stupid in the process. People that actually bother returning their copies might feel some slight self-satisfaction in thinking they just gave 343 the finger, but in the end, the only thing they really did was throw away their opportunity to play.
