In previous halo´s I was a happy spartan that played competetive together with my team. We enjoyed such things as ranking system, map control, teamwork and that sport feel halo had. We enjoyed a competetive and balanced halo that was still unique, different from the mediocre cod copies that swarmed the market. Meanwhile the more casual players enjoyed their side of halo with social playlists and endless custom options. It was a happy place. Then reach and h4 came… Us competetive, tryhards, mlg prOs1337 got crippled. We could no longer play halo our way. We stood there with tears in our eyes and watched as the casuals laughed their -Yoinks!- of… Why? Why not continue making games that appealed to both the competetive and casual side? What the hell was wrong with that?
Before skullcrusher23424 comes and say we don´t need no mlg pros in halo, I want you to place yourself in the tryhards boots… And what if we flip the coin? What if H4 would have been super E-sport competetive and there was no casual side of the game. No big team, vehicles, random weapons, sprint, radar, spray weapons, etc… Wouldn´t you, the casual player feel betrayed and crippled?
I have no anger or bad feelings thowards casual players or should I say non-competetive players because I know that you are as hardcore halo fans as I. But please understand why we are so angry, rude, and often close minded. Please understand that we have lost something that meant very much to us (A competetive halo with a big competetive scene) It may sound weird to you that a video game can be “competetive” but that´s the way it is. We like to play halo as a sport, laugh and call us nerds but that´s how it is.
I don´t really know where I wanted to get with this but I guess I just wanted to venture a little bit. The next time you see a competetive player say something rude, think about the massive amounts of frustration he has inside of him.
If it had been a E-sport only game, I wouldn’t have bought it. Don’t worry 343 is desperate and will kneel before Halo 3, while Destiny whisks away all your Casual population, soon enough

I think you may have missunderstood me, I want a halo game that both casuals and competetives can enjoy. I dont want the casual population gone. Sadly, I think that 343 is going to continue copying cod.

No worries my friend I was speaking directly to those who hate casuals and randoms and anyone who uses the DMR or Boltshot or wants anything other than Halo 3 in a new wrapper. Give them fair and reasonable options and it’s still and will always be NO.
I’ve been playing Halo for a long time and competitively since Halo 3.
I’m fine with Halo 4.
Yes, I wish there could be individual visible ranks in playlists and some other things, but it’s still fun. I play the same playlists I would have played in Halo 3 or Halo 2. Team Doubles, Team Snipers, and Team Throwdown (MLG). Me and my team still have fun and do good.
It doesn’t have to be that different. Yes, the game is bad to me if I play by myself. Playing with my team that calls out and uses team work though as well in the right playlists and such, it really does play a little like Halo 2 or Halo 3.
Besides, 343 is still working to improve the game.

The thing is that only about 50% of the competetive guys is against DMR. If you look more closely in to the THC community you´ll notice that almost everyone there is for DMR because that it doesn´t got the random spread of the br.
The competetive community is basically split in 2. The “halo 3 omg best game eva” and the more reasonable THC community. I know that THC has a bad reputation on these forums because of their harsh sarcasm and etc but they are actually just a bunch of really smart guys that is upset over halo´s current form and state.

I can´t deny that 343 is improving, mainly because of that the crew now has a couple of competetive minded people on the team. (Bravo and the work toghether with some pro´s)
If they got rid of all the random stuff it would help a lot. I like Infinity Slayer but the randomness of weapon drops, personal Ordnance, and custom Load outs even gets to me some times.

Really? Well let me be the first to say YES. Besides the casual community got hit along with the competitive, the difference is some people aren’t as obnoxious about it.
> Unless your way involves no sprint im pretty sure you can create your ideal way with custom games. That or you can play team throwdown.
Sadly I can´t. “My way” is no sprint, less aim assist, more responsive strafe, descpoing added and flinch removed, be able to drop flag, faster kill times on utility weapons without hurting the rest of the sandbox (impossible with current custom game options)
> You guys are acting like Team Throwdown doesn’t exist.
Please read my previous post and you´ll se whats missing in the throwdown playlist Besides, without a ranking system the throwdown playlist is full of quitting ´cuz of no incentive to win.
> Big team battle can’t be competitive? Why not?
> How is sprint, and vehicles casual?

> The hell, what is competitive? Static options that never change and have so little variety?

> And spray weapons are harder to use effectively in this game then precision types.
When we talk about competetive in halo most of us think of mlg 4v4 settings. I was using the term competetive in a lazy way, I am much aware of that BTB can be competetive aswell. Why i choose to say that sprint and vehicles are casual is because that they are not optimal for 4v4 competeive play. Sprint allows for stupid decisions that doesn´t get punished because u can just sprint away.
2 player with ar´s attack eachother off versus 2 people with Light rifles that attack eachother. In wich battle will the most skillfull player have a higher chance of winning? In the precision rifle fight of course. You need better aim, strafe and pace. AR 1v1 is a coinflip who will win because of no skill gap. Ofc spray weapons are harder to use in this game, they are weaker than the precision weapons but they are not more skillfull. Please separate those two terms.
