It is June 2012 and I can still play my favorite playlist in Call of Duty Black Ops, Ground War, which has been available since 2010.
Sadly, I can’t say the same about the Noble Map Pack playlist, the Defiant Map Pack playlist, the Premium Slayer playlist, the Premium Battle playlist, the Squad Slayer playlist or the Anniversary Squad playlist.
My point here is, I hope 343 does a better job at managing the playlists in Halo 4 instead of giving the middle finger to all players who purchased the Noble, Defiant and Anniversary map packs DLC by deleting all DLC playlists.
And before you mention the current Squad DLC playlist, know that I don’t feel like playing Assault Rifle starts on Breakpoint, Highlands, Breakneck and Ridgeline…
At first I thought it was a troll topic. Good thing I read before posting.
Yeah that situation with Reach is pathetic. ANY shooter do better with DLC/Playlist than Reach/Bungie/343i did.
Considering the Limited Edition comes with the 3 map packs 343 plans to release as part of the cost, we should see a lot more people with the DLC in Halo 4, they may not feel the need to make a DLC only list.
That said, I would like for there to be one anyway, since not everyone is going to pick up the Limited Edition.
I sure wish I could play my Noble Map Pack, but it apparently isn’t in the rotation when you don’t have Defiant or Anniversary. -_-
I hope Halo 4 has playlists that aren’t map pack-required and you are only matched with players who have your maps.

EDIT: Nevermind.
Beggars can’t be choosers. Get a team and outvote the AR starts.

Bungie can go screw themselves. I’m never buying any DLC from them ever again.
343, please don’t let me down. Reach’s DLC maps were the best ones in the game, and I could only play them for a while until they got removed forever.
I can’t remember the last time I played in Anchor 9.
I don’t like paying for maps. Especially since you hardly get to play em in matchmaking. Unless you go to the DLC playlist.
I think the ball was dropped when Halo: CEA didn’t include all maps for MP. I think the reason it was easy for Halo 3 to find DLC is that they released ODST, and some maps were free (Heroic/Cold Storage).
So I like that 343i is giving free access to MP maps with LE, a good way to increase the numbers from the get go. Hopefully they change some popular playlists to DLC required pushing people to get it. It might be dirty. But I think people paying more and not playing the maps is worse than people paying the same and playing less playlists but same maps anywhere else.

The ball was dropped when Bungie decided to delete 7 DLC playlists from Reach to make space for community playlists, which were deleted at the end too.
I swear to God, and I hardly ever do this, if 343 messes up DLC with Halo 4, that’s the last freaking DLC I’ll buy from them ever again.
I’ve wasted enough money getting the maps in Reach, to never play them again. What a joke.

7? They only removed the Noble and Defiant playlists in favor of the two premium playlists. I’m not entirely sure, but that may have been 343 anyway.
Premium Slayer and Battle had a very low population. Not many players actually bought the DLC.
I think it must just be good luck, but I do get some DLC maps whenever I play Objective in Reach. Usually it is only a couple times a week, but I do not like the maps enough to want to play them all the time. Some more Anchor 9 Oddball would be cool, though.

so you’re saying you want them to force people who didn’t but the dlc to buy the dlc?
if they actually do that I think I’ll just go play something else.
PLAY SQUAD DLC!!!
Don’t want AR starts on those maps? DON’T VOTE FOR IT. They collect voting data. If you don’t play it, don’t complain what you get when you do.
I’ve always supported every DLC playlist, and that is mostly what I play, apart from Invasion.

The closest thing to “force to buy” would be to make all MP require DLC. But if they lock some of the funner playlists to require DLC then the people who bought it can have fun in that playlist on all maps. If you haven’t bought it you can either say “Well I’ll play some other playlist” or “Damn, this playlist with new maps does sound pretty sick, should probably get it”.
It’s worse to have maps and not play them than to not have maps and be locked from some playlists.
We need to do something similar to what we did in Halo 3. Make it so that like 80% of the playlists require DLC after like, a month each DLC comes out so that first, it allows people with the DLC to have plenty of playlists to play them in, and second give people who don’t have the DLC some incentive/motivation/extortion to buy it.

Who deserves to be listened? The costumer who spends more money on DLC or the costumer who buys the standard edition of the game and never invests any more money in it?
Reach failed for many reasons, and not catering to those who spent the extra bucks was one of them. And I still read comments like this.

it depends on what you mean by “funner” gametypes, if you mean things like BTB or rocket race I’m perfectly fine with that but if you mean 4v4 slayer then I say hell no.
I buy dlc because I want to, not because 343 is forcing me to.

People who didn’t buy the Noble Map pack quickly realised how stupid it was to buy any DLC in Reach, seeing how the only DLC playlist was removed back in the day, and how poor support DLC buyers got.

If 343 isn’t making you want to buy DLC, they are doing it wrong.
Not providing DLC playilists to play your purchased DLC could be a reason why people don’t buy any in the first place.

Yeah, because I can totally control LubricatedOwl69’s vote, along with his three guests.
