I can see clearly now

The longer I internet with and play this flight, the more I can see the subtle and more blatantly obvious things that have been omited/surpress/altered for future monetization down the line. I’m willing to bet we’ll be paying for everything from playable Elites to character models not related to armour. When all is said and done you’ll be pay twice if not triple the price of a full priced game for cosmetics and features that should have been there from the start.

In the final release, it’s likely to be like this, sadly. The decision to make Multiplayer free means that they need to make business in one way or another, which honestly sucks because I’d rather pay for the game and get things given to me normally — similar to MCC’s box & reward system, or Reach’s CR — rather than through microtransactions or virtual currency. When I first opened up the Battle Pass, I thought I was playing Rocket League for a second, which is really sad.

cosmetics will be monetized, gameplay content and features will not. this is why live service is a successful business model (tf2, csgo, league, dota 2, apex, fortnite). halo used to monetize post-launch content in the form of map packs, which isn’t healthy for a game’s longevity. new maps, new weapons, new vehicles, new features, etc will be free and that’s more important.

You can justify it however you’d like, but you’re wrong. Games as services always die and usually in a half finished state. All it does is divide the player base, it’s always cosmetics only until it’s not. It’s never pay to win, until it is. I would rather pay for a complete game, with content as an after thought, and know everyone has access to the same content even after the devs tap out. Than play a cash farm that will eventually die out incomplete.

look at the most popular multiplayer games today. how many of them are games as a service, and have been around for years? over a decade in some cases.
