I was surprised to see that two shops where I live (The Netherlands) already have Halo Infinite in their store as a pre-order. They give as expected release date december 31, 2018. However, they do say the date is not certain.
I was expecting this game to get released at the end of 2019 or early 2020. Even though december 31, 2018 is not certain, I can’t expect this game to get released at the end of 2019 if shops are already have it in pre-order.
Does anyone know if we can expect this game to get released at the end of 2018 / early 2019? I was super happy for a bit, and now I’m not sure. I can’t find any information on YouTube, except for some gameplay video’s.
I live in the netherlands too.
The release date hasnt been announced
(yet )
But when it is they change the date of release.after release you get it right away.
There’s no way it’ll release by the end of the year or early 2019, they haven’t even shown off any story trailers/gameplay. I don’t think the engine is even “done”. I’d say expect 2020 at the earliest.

Yeah, I understand how pre-orders work. But if the game gets released a year from now, how do they know it can be sold for 70 euro’s? And why even put it in the store as a pre-order when the release date is so far into the future?
I’ve pre-ordered games before. But that was only possible a month or maybe two months before the game actually got released. And now it’s possible more than a year before it gets released?
I feel like either Halo Infinite get’s released a lot sooner than everyone was expecting, or those stores are full of sh*t.

Yeah, I WAS thinking the same. Now I’m not sure. I’ve seen games available for pre-order sale one or two months before the game was actually released. Now they’re available for pre-order more than a year before the game actually gets released? And they even know the price…? This is just super weird.
-Yoink!-, I was hoping to spent january 1st with a hangover and Halo Infinite…

A game this big isn’t something you just release out of nowhere without a release date set, gotta generate hype with tons of marketing. That’s more something really small indie games do.
As for knowing the price, it’s a AAA game so it’ll definitely be the standard full price.
Why wouldn’t they give people the option to pre-order already if they know they’ll get a decent amount of people to do it? Business wise, it doesn’t surprise me in the least. But I, and I hope most others, are going to wait to make an informed decision. It’s just too common nowadays that companies are releasing incomplete games.
Personally, I made an informed decision with H5 and decided it wasn’t worth the money. I’ll wait to see gameplay in H6 before making a decision as well.

Halo has a trend of being released in the fall seasons of America; so typically between October and November. I have never seen a Halo game release any earlier or later than those months; so expect it to probably be Fall of 2019.

Exactly. What we saw at E3 was a tech demo for the Slipspace Engine, not so much a trailer for the actual game. I feel the same, the earliest we’re getting the game is 2020. In fact, I think there’s a strong possibility Microsoft will use it as the launch title for the next-gen Xbox launching in 2020.

You kinda answered your own question with your second paragraph. I think most people won’t drop the cash on a pre-order until they see some more info about the game. So making pre-ordering available now would be premature imo.

Zero chances for that mate. Like it was said many times before Gears of War 5 comes out in that very same release window already.
Also 343i said they would test the game in some sort of beta quite some time before release, infos are basically non-existent and if that’s not enough the next gen will come out in 2020 too. 'Ya think MS is not going to capitalize on the new main line Halo game and it’s new shiny powerful engine? Well, think again.
There is no official release date quite yet of course, but based on the information we got so far and release history of past games published by MS Studios, a publication of Halo infinite prior to late 2020 (4Q) is highly improbable at best. Sorry!
@OP: Sadly pre-orders starting well over a year before release are nothing new. In your case however it seems more like the shop is trying to capitalise on Halo’s name as soon as possible. At least I’m not aware of any official pre-order by MS for now. Don’t give them your money yet, they don’t deserve it!
…not that pre-ordering so far in advance would ever be a good idea in any case. I mean, Hi could be a point and click adventure for what we know and people are already giving money to shops!

I never said it was DEFINITELY coming out Fall of 2019, I said it was a probability. If it comes out Fall of 2020, then so be it.

I know. What I’m saying is, there is not even a probability for a 2019 release based on the infos we have!

I’m guessing it’ll be a “next gen” title and will come out in 2020 sometime.
