I’ve been watching the Sprint/Advanced Movement Wars for awhile now. Personally, I think the new mechanics are garbage. Classic Halo gameplay is The Way for me. That said, I am hyped for Infinite and really want to give it a fair shake even if it has the movement stuff I don’t like. For me, the biggest things I want out of Infinite’s multiplayer are:

Remastered OG Maps
This matters a lot to me. I have played all of the games and really, I can’t say that any map 343 has done has stood out like good old Bungie designs. They have really lacked. I’m not even asking that the maps look the same, take some creative license and make Boarding Action into a cliff side fort battle instead of two ships for example, but just give me the “terrain” I grew up on back. I loved watching Bungie rework a design of the same map for the next game. We may need to tweak (not overhaul) some of the maps to make the movement stuff work a little better, a higher ledge here or a wider area there is fine, but I see no reason why old maps should not just be up scaled to accommodate sprint, etc and given to us. I can live with a resized Lockout as long as I get the map back. I sometimes get into a game by myself just to wander around and take in the beauty of each design. Just give me back my playgrounds even if they are slightly bigger. If they aren’t there, fine, I’ll make them myself, but it would be great if 343 took the time to shine the old classics up for us. Developer made always looks better than fan creations in Halo. Not to mention, it would really help me to feel like they are respecting the legacy of the classic games. I mean Infinite is a nostalgia grab, let’s be real. It can’t just be skin deep though. The graphics alone aren’t what we are after. -
OG Armor
Similar to the maps thing. I made my Spartan in H3 and have LOVED my boy ever since. ODST helmet, Mjolnir chest, Scout shoulders. It is who I am. I’ve literally custom painted my own Macfarlane and Mega Bloks figures of MY Spartan. I wish that 343 would let me have MY Spartan back instead of just a “close enough” design. Bring back the old designs from 3-5 in all their glory. Make them the exact same. Helljumper and Nightfall are NOT my ODST helmet. Keep them. Some one made their Spartan out of them and loves them like I do my own, but give me back what I had before. There is nothing more awesome than having my own Spartan throughout every game. If you want to release them later, even for a price, fine. I just want to see my Spartan back in action. H3’s customization update was legitimately one of the highlights of my summer. Give me back my Spartan. Please. -
OG Weapons Sandbox
The Bulldog and the Sidekick look dope. I am stoked to use them, but like the armor argument, why are the Magnum and Tactical Shotgun not there? The community is going to (and already is) flipping out about it like they did SPNKR. How have we not learned this lesson? Add to the sandbox, I love it. The new designs are great, but why do we have to give up older ones? Add, but unless we start rioting, there shouldn’t be any reason to take away. Bring back every weapon, at least in Forge, so we can use them if we want. I feel fairly sure that at some point we will see the Magnum and TS again, but let’s be real, who thought not having them day one was acceptable?
Anyways, what are your thoughts? I know some of this got emotional, but really, I am fine. I just wanted to show what matters to me. I feel like these suggestions would help at least this old Spartan transition to the new stuff just a little better since at least the heritage is respected. I really do appreciate 343’s work and appreciate how much they have been listening. I also recognize their struggles because of the pandemic and stuff too. I literally haven’t been this hyped for anything since Halo 2’s release. I hope everyone the best at the studio and want them to succeed. I am stoked at the idea of Halo reigning supreme again. (I mean, just put out that release date and preorders. It’s time to shut up and take my money.) I just see the community’s divide being caused by features that are or aren’t included in each game. It’s like Pokemon. “Gen 4 is best because it has this!” “No, Gen 7 has that!” Let’s move forward, but that doesn’t mean we have to ditch everything that we had before. We don’t always have to use all of the old stuff, but at least leaving it their gives people some options. Anywho, thanks again! Let me know your thoughts.
