And they told me 343 is cutting off their ability to sell Limited Editions at the end of the week (this Saturday) for shipping reasons, so I’m reserving mine tomorrow.
Did everyone know this already? .__.
Does this include all store venues?

Call another few Gamestops and I bet you will hear different stories from all of them.
Don’t believe it unless it comes from 343i themselves, game stores tend to be well misinformed.
They prob don’t want a bunch of limited editions laying around. There was tons of Reach Legendary editions, so they prob want to limit how much they carry.
Well, it is after all a Limited Edition. Even though 343i may continue to ship their products to the stores, the store itself may decide when enough is enough. I know in the past, our local Gamestop store told customers after awhile that they were no longer able to pre-order copies of Halo 3’s Legendary Edition and Modern Warfare’s Prestige Edition.

On the plus side, if you wait a few months those special editions drop considerably.
It’s probably not an issue, but I do want to know how limited the limited edition is.

It would be nice to know but I am not sure if they’d tell us. I am would assume if they had planned for 50,000 and got pre-orders for 2 million they’d adjust…I would. lol

Welp, the person I talked to told me that 343 themselves were cutting off that store’s ability to reserve Limited Editions, and he told me “Because they want enough time to know exactly how many LE’s to ship to our store.”
Don’t know if that’s the case for everyone, but that’s what the employee told me.
Gamestop is yet again ripping people off on video games and misinforming them. I can’t trust Gamestop anymore. They ripped me off on preordering my Halo CEA last year. I’m not buying there again. If I were you, go preorder somewhere else. I’m preordering my Halo 4 at Best Buy cause I don’t trust Gamestop now. If I were you and you call again, ask them if you can speak to the manager and if the manager says the same thing just say ‘ok’ and hang up on them and take your buying games somewhere else.

I’m throwing the BS flag on that one. The game hasn’t even gone gold yet and they haven’t even BEGUN printing discs so it’s a total non-issue right now.
Do game stop people get sales salaries? If so that guy just mite want you to buy the game now really bad haha…
I am no distribution buff but wouldn’t this be a problem AFTER the game went gold and the first Waves of LEs are ready to go?

Just called my local GameStop, I can confirm this is untrue. You may reserve Limited Editions until roughly two weeks before release, for they need to know how many to ship to the store in advance.

Wait, what? Calling B.S. on that. Like Moa said, unless 343 actually comes out and says something, don’t buy into that. The employee clearly is misinformed. Besides, its what, June? They aren’t even done with the game to start printing disc’s. Now is the time to place ALL the pre-orders in the world so 343 knows how many to make…
Freaking Gamestop… I’d buy somewhere else, but my buddy already reserved his copy in that store; he’s dead set on that camo skin pre-order bonus, and we were excited to go to the midnight release together, so it looks like I’m going with Gamestop. >_>
Well I guess I should have been suspicious. I originally asked if I could reserve an Awakening: The Art of Halo 4 art book, and he told me that I couldn’t reserve it any longer, and that it was only available now in the Legendary Edition…

None of the gamestop employees around my house know what there talking about so i doubt its true.Nine times out of ten i will call ahead and see if they have a game they will say yes ill drive up there and they won’t even have it.
They told me the same thing about the gears 3 epic edition but i went in a month before the release and they still took my pre-order so its probably not true.
They’re probably just trying to convince you to buy reserve one now. So they can get that money that they want so badly.
Thanks Snickerdoodle, my panicky fanboy side kicked in for a second and I would have hated not to get LE.
But what you said makes perfect sense.
Glad I decided to put 25 dollars down on it yesterday then…
victory is mine bee-yatch
Edit* Just kidding, read the rest of the thread just now lol

No, sounds like you were talking to a store who is in need of some reserves. Limited Editions DO run out, but we are never told when. It’s all based off availability, and seeing as how they haven’t even been produced yet, we do not know what the availability is. Stores aren’t supposed to say that to you, but you may have either run into a sleezy guy trying to pull one over on you, or someone who is just misinformed.
Trust me, we have plenty left for you. Do you really think a game is going to pre-order out the week of E3, when all the big announcements come out?
