I believe you're all forgetting something.

Not that I hope to make a difference in all that is going on here, but I want to tell all the people who read this something:
This is Halo, the best console game for customising gametypes. If something does not make you happy, there is sure to be an option to turn it off, and if 343 is as smart as I think they are, then they will find a way to make everyone happy. I’m sure there’ll be playlists without loadouts, perks and all of the stuff people think are not halo. If it’s not there, then 343 will fix it as soon as they realize the problem. They’re dedicated, and I believe in them.
Do you believe?

Lol what fools would be so stupid as to plunder the efforts of such a very respectible series? Certainly not 343, they know what they are doing? It’s not like they just graduated from elementary and decided to take on the Halo Series, with their crayon skills being the only thing they have xD.

Some of the big boys in this game have been with halo since the first one. They are not killing it, they are bringing it back to life, back to something original we have never seen, like CE.

Sorry, but not everyone wants to be limited to playing custom games only.

Yes. But that will only further polarize the community and reduce the Halo population overall because the new features of the game will still be marketed strongly, no doubt. And that is going to discourage fans of the original trilogy from buying it.

However,343 is mostly trying get a new fanbase, and that will cause a great schism amongst halo fans, new and old. But that is where the true nature if the game will bring us all together, so it can please new and old fans with all that they needed.

> Sorry, but not everyone wants to be limited to playing custom games only.

that’s where separate playlists come in, to cater to all parties ( pun not intended)
Both my replies are related, FYI.

Name one.

Ask time glitch, I believe he is.

Me.

They will likely have different playlists. Not to mention, more customisation means that MLG have more things to tweak to make it play as they want.

I believe in 343.
I have been a fan of everything Halo up until this point,
and I know they will return this series to its former glory and beyond.

^ this.

I’m not gonna lie, I like playing BTB every now and then. Silly playlists too. 343 are gonna have to make twice as many playlists as normal (one set of playlists for the “new” gameplay and one for the “old”), but more than likely we’re only going to get one classic playlist. If the past is any indication than the “classic” playlists are never classic though. It’s just not too fun…

I don’t have blind “faith” in a bunch of developers. You shouldn’t really either, they’re just spewing the standard PR crap. If that tickles your fancy though…

Now we, can talk. I loved exploring Halo CE’s sandbox, the competitive Halo 2, Halo 3’s awesome campaign and maps, the classy ODST for the atmoshpere [and zooming, silenced SMG’s. By God.<3], Reach for it’s Legendary, ASO co-op, and Forge for inspiring so much fun custom-game nights. I felt awesome nuking the -Yoink- out of things on Custom Edition’s Coldsnap, overpowering a foe in Halo Wars with new unit combo’s, and most of all I enjoyed the people I played with, having fun. Looking at Halo 4, it’s promises of improved matchmaking, classic and renewing, just seems to be amazing for the open minded player. We should all be so lucky.
I really pity all the people being so awfully scared of whatever new Halo 4 may bring, while I’d also thank this part of the community for popularizing zero bloom on precision weapons, as well as ‘helping get the BR back.’ It seems to me like you people do not want a Halo 4, instead some shinier version of Halo 2. In fact, I’m pretty sure I read litteraly just that on various ‘OMFG 343 BE RUININ HALOEZ’ threads.
Well, request a Halo 2 Anniversary then. With some new maps, or something. That’s what you really want, no?

The main issue I have regarding the customisation and multiple hoppers to satisfy all fans is that giving fans a ‘Classic’ playlist without the new features feels a bit like they’re treating us like children, giving us the simple toys to go into the corner and play with alone. While I’m grateful for the wide selection of choice, I’d rather 343 just didn’t have such stupid ideas for new features like unlockable abilities in the first place.

Abilities mean more ways to toy with the sandbox, and play the game your way. It’ll make the game more varied, and probably add new ways for teamworking as well. Reach did, anyway. I understand not everyone wants that, but I think a majority will love it.
343i has some of the best people in the business designing this. They do not have ‘stupid’ ideas. Of course, if you’re designing a game far superior to this upcoming title in this aspect, I take it all back. Otherwise, show 343 a little respect, will you?

Unfortunately, with some people there is no pleasing.

If abilities aren’t available to all straight away, as is implied with the term ‘unlockable’, then that fundamentally shifts the balance of gameplay right from the get-go for new(er) players. I was fine with AAs in Reach, because everyone had access to them. Even in Invasion, everyone had access to more powerful loadouts as the game progressed rather than just the best players getting more powerful. Although not giving Elites a long-range one-hit-kill weapon was a -Yoink- move.

Unlockable abilities is a pretty stupid idea. I’ll show 343 some respect regarding Halo 4 when I see something worth respecting.

Such as John looking damn fine in his MJOLNIR. That is amazing. Unlockable abilities not so much.

> Otherwise, show 343 a little respect, will you?

Respect is earned not given im afraid. The question is whose respect will they earn.

> If abilities aren’t available to all straight away, as is implied with the term ‘unlockable’, then that fundamentally shifts the balance of gameplay right from the get-go for new(er) players. I was fine with AAs in Reach, because everyone had access to them.

I am pretty sure Halo 4 will not have unlockable abilities, in fact I’m pretty sure I read that in an interview, though I can’t seem to find which one. Instead, the unlocked armor would ‘suit different styles of play’. I imagine armor that will feature greater jetpack/thruster acceleration, a bonus to sprint, or perhaps slightly improved shields, or enhanced zooming with precision weapons.
If it really would be so that after Level:XX you can first use a bubble-shield or jetpack or whatever , that’d be some pretty bad design. I’m convinced 343 won’t do that.

> Yes. But that will only further polarize the community and reduce the Halo population overall because the new features of the game will still be marketed strongly, no doubt. And that is going to discourage fans of the original trilogy from buying it.

See, that theory relies on an awfully big assumption. So far the marketing hasn’t been about new features. Quite the opposite. It’s been about the old. They are pandering to nostalgia. Why do you think the very first trailer was the immediate continuation of Halo 3’s ending? Look at the main page of this very website. Two articles about Master Chief (again, reminding us of the past), and a damn photo gallery for the man.

Now that we see your argument on marketing is flawed, all that’s left is your assertion that diversity is somehow crippling. Which is just asinine.
