I believe 343i will make Halo 5 a good Halo

To be fair to 343i, although the Halo 4 matchmaking didn’t even belong in a Halo game, the campaign/story was magnificent, to say the least. I couldn’t be more confident in their ability to make great campaign story -lines, and truly expect the Halo 5 story to be absolutely brilliant.
As for the matchmaking side of things, I am ready to give them another chance, especially since they have made numerous comments that seem to imply that they’ve learned their lesson about Halo matchmaking. I have confidence in their ability as a development team to make this Halo one of the best Halos yet, both in campaign and matchmaking.

I felt the need to say this, because I think that it’s time to move on from Halo 4’s failure of a matchmaking, and begin to encourage them that we (or at least I) trust them to take their chance to restore Halo’s matchmaking to it’s former glory.

343i has made some serious mistakes in the past Halo, but I believe they’re going to pick up the pieces and make Halo 5 a game worth playing again and again.

I am on board until the slightest sign of something random… then I’m gone forever.
If they mention perks, I’m gone. If they mention PODs, I’m gone. If they mention custom loadouts, I’m probably gone. If they mention Sprint, I’m probably gone.

I am gone if we have sprint or ads, because they are things that takes away from the Halo feel. Adding things like that, is modification to the core, which 343 shouldn’t do. Pods and whatnot is just a game-type element.

Halo 4 with core mechanics in place, should have felt “just” like Fiesta in Halo 3.

I agree that Sprint is probably the biggest problem with Halo 4. I just feel that they won’t get rid of it for Halo 5… so if it’s optional, with maps created WITHOUT sprint in mind, I’ll stick it out. If sprint is incorporated like it was in Halo 4, then yes, I’ll be gone forever.

I think Halo 5 will be a really good game–at least better than Halo: Reach and Halo 4, both multiplayer and Campaign. But if it will be as good as Halo 1-3? I have my doubts.

I believe 343i can make a good halo game. The formula has been there for almost 13 years.

whether or not they will is still to be answered.

343 needs to innovate. Copying other shooters and putting a halo skin on them is not innovation. Eternal slayer is an innovation, fire fight was an innovation, theatre mode was an innovation.
forge was an innovation.

personal ordnance and custom loadouts are not innovations.

if 343i can come up with they’re own ideas, they’re own creations, hell if they’re desperate for ideas they don’t have to turn to other shooters, just read their own forums. An hour lurking should be sufficient, then Halo 5 will be great.

don’t sell me a vanilla cake and claim its chocolate.

Thanks for the Eternal Slayer mention, buddy!

Yeah, I’d love for new ideas and mechanics to be implemented into the Halo MP, as long as things are still predictable, fair, balanced, and fun.
No luck.

Lol how many times does it need to be repeated, a detail no bigger than a breadcrumb does not mean we’ll get “ADS”.

I hope that the 2014 game that comes out has great MM that brings all of us Halo people back together.

The only FOR SURE thing that will make me not play Halo 5 online after getting the achievements and enjoying the story is POD.

I prefer sprint dropped & no loadouts… but it wont make me quit.

Perks and support upgrades might make me not play.

PODs being present will single-handedly make me hang it up. It will honestly prove that 343 doesn’t care about the Halo fan base or the quality of its product.

I really do feel that Halo 2014 & Halo 5 will be great. Even if garbage I’ll likely continue to try to 100% Waypoint career (sad, I know, lol). But me PLAYING MM for years to come could be somewhat in jeopardy… and looking at H4 #s I’m not alone.

I’m pretty sure 343 has learned from the direction Halo 4 went and won’t make the same mistakes twice.
Fool me once, shame on you.

It would be logical that they learned from the mistakes they made with matchmaking.
But I think that they campaign will be good. I liked H4 campaign and story. I consider spartan ops as the second part of the campaign. It could have been done better, but the story was interesting.
I still enjoyed H4 matchmaking even if it had many mistakes. So I’ll be getting H5 mainly for the same reason as I have bought every other Halo game, for the story. That’s the main thing about Halo for me. Matchmaking is just a +
I hope that H5 mathcmaking will please many of those who left after H4.

343 experimented with everything they wanted to in Halo 4. I truly believe they made some of those mistakes on purpose, just to push the envelope. Put it this way – it was their opportunity to fail at something new.

If you’re limited by aging hardware, engines, a maturing player base, and stiff competition, why not try a bunch of radical things, see what sticks for the next game?

Historically, the best Halo games have always been console sellers. Halo 4 was NEVER going to be that.

343 learned a metric tonne about what works, what doesn’t, and what could work if implemented differently.

I have faith because I’m a fan, and I’ll definitely look to give Halo 5 a fair shake. Here’s hoping that 14 years after CE my life still permits me time for video games.

I hear you. I am approaching a time in my life where I simply cannot play all the excellent games. So I am doubling down on Halo as my primary source of videogame entertainment.

343i are talented and well-funded. I think that they will do well.

As long as Campaign, Custom games and forge are good, then I’ll be good.

To clarify what I said in the original post, I am still ready to abandon the prospect of a good Halo 5 multiplayer if 343i so much as mentions ordnance or custom loadouts.
