I appreciate the consideration 343i, but....

Instead of buffing the many things in the Halo 4 sandbox (the BR, the Light Rifle, the Carbine, the LAAG and the mantis), could you just nerf the DMR so that the Reload is longer and the Rate of Fire is lower. This is because the DMR is designed as a long range rifle. Thus, to support its role, it should have a lower fire rate and a longer reload to stress its “long distance” concept.

Also, instead of more powerful vehicle weapons, why not just more health? The vehicles suffer from a spam of plasma grenades and plasma pistols, so although a vehicle weapon buff would help, they will still die almost as fast. (Or just please make spawn with ONE plasma grenade and TWO pulse grenades)

Lastly, PLEASE DO NOT NERF THE AUTOMATICS D:
This is, of course, my own opinion, but I felt like they actually had a decent chance at killing anyone else compared to previous Halo games, especially the AR and Storm Rifle (plasma rifle). If anything, I think the supressor should get a buff (I rarely use it cause it SUCKS at anything past melee range).

Thanks for reading. Please discuss constructively.

They are buffing the automatics not nerfing. And I agree about giving more HP to vehicles, even with buffed chainguns they will still get destroyed with 2 sticky grenades.

I could’ve sworn they were talking about reducing the automatics range by around 15%? Oh well. Time will tell.

Well I know they buffed up the damage and just reduced the Aim Assist, maybe I missed something today.

Hm, that sounds cool but I still think they should leave it.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, OP. To increase the chances of them being seen by 343i, I’d recommend crossposting them in the official Weapons Feedback thread, if you haven’t already.

We looked at both options and felt buffing and tweaking the other weapons to match the DMR to be the better choice. Achieving optimal kill times and game flow were also things we had to consider that led us to the current settings.

We looked at changing health but landed on increasing the damage on the chain guns (both Warthog and Mantis), because we felt they were too weak to fulfill their intended role.

We did not nerf the automatics. We actually buffed them slightly, while balancing that with a reduction of auto aim angle.

Uh-oh, guess that means no taking out the Mantis with the Sniper Rifle, lol. However, they were definitely too weak. Especially the Warthog. Two plasma grenades, then “boom” destroyed in an instant.

I noticed the change with the Automatics, however, I wanted to ask, was the shot spread of the Suppressor shorted like if you were firing the Assault Rifle and Storm Rifle? Its seems that the shots don’t go really far, IMO. I’m just curious about that.

GASPS DMR…reloading longer, I’m sorry but i must respectfully disagree. Range of fire, okay, b/c at this point, i’ve stopped playing for a little due to players using the DMR as a sniper rifle. Its RoF is too far, should be shortened by a little. I’m a DMR users and the only thing i expect from the DMR’s change is the Range of Fire. However, that’s up to the Admins. Just a little concerned, b/c one of them is a “BR” user, lol.

Well that’s great as long as its strong enough to keep anyone with a plasma grenade away.

I wonder if they will turn the radar on in the pro settings. I’m already seeing posts about peoples concern for it not being there.

Buffing those weapons is how it should have been in the first place. The Carbine and BR were made to be a seven and four shot kill.

Not in the Slayer Pro variant they won’t, assuming they are not map pickups.

Not range as in distance but, they have changed the Auto-aim assist range so that it is narrower, that is, you will need to have the reticle on the target for the auto-assist etc to kick in. They said it has been reduced by just over fifty per cent.

I agree with the health buff and goobot probably does too.

Even with stronger machine guns, they’re going to be still quite easy to kill. It’s not just warthogs and mantises.

Exactly. Even with the damage buff, all vehicles are still going to be vulnerable to snipers, dmr’s, and plasma nades.

Its basically mounting a heavy gun on a wooden jeep.
