I am worried about the armor customization in Halo Infinite. I am not referring to the already established controversy surrounding armor coatings. No, I am worried about the armor itself. From what we have seen from the inside Infinite and the E3 promotional poster, I have slowly begun to fear that the armor in the game will just be assets ripped straight out of the past titles. From what I have seen so far most of the armor and their respective attachments are straight out of Reach, even the under suit is the Reach design with better textures and poly count. I know the Reach armor is some of the most popular out there but, I just don’t want to see Infinite essentially function as Halo Reach 2.0 with just some more armor and visor colors.
I am aware of the other armor sets that have been shown off, but most of the Jazware and Mega Construx toys seem to be mainly made up of the Reach armors. I just hope on the 13th my fears will be quelled.
This is good… Halo:Reach armor is far superior than Halo 5’s garbage mess. I wouldn’t worry, though. There will most likely be a large variety of never before seen armor available. With Reach-like customization, there will be a lot of different ways to customize too. So, it’s a win/win.
I wouldn’t be too worried. I’m sure they’ll reuse a lot of armor assets but that doesn’t mean there won’t be new stuff to go along with it. Not to mention all the extra armors that are sure to come along during post launch support.
I see the point that you guys are making and I don’t want to come across as being opposed to this customization I am excited, but I am just worried that 343 will take the lazy route instead of taking the time to think about the armor and their look. I just hope we don’t see a carbon copy of all the Reach options and if they do I hope to see that those options can be expanded upon to be universal and mirrored based on the armor. Another concern I have is the inclusion or the Noble team specific armor pieces. I just hope they were not added solely because they were options in Reach, but hope they might expand upon those option to allow us to faithfully recreate each team members style and look.

I think the armor looks better than ever and I’m confused with your ripped from other titles statement. Why wouldn’t this happen? It’s happened for almost every Halo because the game is iterative. There monetization is based on armor so I really doubt that will be neglected.

When I use the word “Ripped” I mean I hope that the customization isn’t just a carbon copy of Reach’s version, I am not opposed to the armor being added in, not at all. I am worried that they wont expand on the customization and we will see the same attachment combos on the helmets and armor as seen in the Mcc and OG Reach with just more armor options haphazardly thrown in to give the illusion its a new system.
Rereading my post I recognize that it could have been worded better unfortunately every time I type a post like this I struggle to accurately convey what I am thinking.

It happens to me as well. I think it’s hard to envision a new system without seeing it possible as the one we already know. A copy wouldn’t be lazy it actually would be more insightful because people enjoyed that version however I do hope at least some improvements are made if that is the case. Don’t forget these systems can be improved and replaced because of the long term plan they have if they do not appeal to fans.
I mean, there are plenty of 343 original armors. Mark VII, Anubis, Trailblazer, their interpretations of Blue Teams’ armor, and a handful of unknown armor.
Plus, there is only so much armor from Reach. If they plan to add more for the next 10 years, there will be original armor.
There will be new and returning armors, as there always has been, so I’m not worried at all.

Or they don’t want to reveal all of the new armor?

Oh really that’s what they wanna do? golly gee I sure didn’t think about that.
They’ve stated that they want to bring back all armours, so yes that would mean there will be a lot of Reach stuff but that also means there will be a lot of other stuff too. I think they’ve been using Reach to market because it’s familiar characters armour instead of just random armour and it just looks really good.
As long as the art style of Halo 4/5 stay out of Infinite I’m happy.
I’m still hopefull. They armor we did see looked good in my opinion.
I think for the promotional work they’re just using some older armors for nostalgia effect. If more people see something recognizable, they’ll tend to enjoy it more than something new. The majority of people are relatively happy with infinite gameplay because it resembles that of the original trilogy more than Halo 5 did. I wouldn’t fear too much about the armor yet, I don’t think we have a legitimate reason to.

Uhhh bro, 90% of the armor we’ve seen is new. Plus, you think they’ll wanna show off all the new stuff right now? Reach inspired armors will bring hype.
I believe 343 has expressed their desire to eventually add most if not all of previous armors that way people will always be able to make their favorite Spartan in infinite. The amount of reach armor makes me think there’s a lore reason at least at launch like I’d the unsc is having to scavenge most of their gear from old caches due to the created uprising. Just brainstorming but looks like we’ll have a much better idea in a few days thankfully
You guys wanted the classic look, you got the classic look.
We have seen very little and what we were shows was probably meant to imply that they are keeping Halo - Halo and the armors you know and love are still in.
I think your worries are unnecessary.
I mean, yeah we got visual confirmation of returning Halo Reach elements here and here but there is also returning 343 armor design like 343 Recon (supposedly renamed Trailblazer but not confirmed) as well as Anubis and 343 Scout.
You can then add the new armors elements: Mark VII armor, This one and this one.
So yeah, like Deaths Shadow74 said, many armors we have seen so far is either new or not from Reach.
We have new chests, knee guards, shoulders, equipments, helmets, helmet attachments and undersuit (not sure if it’s linked to coatings or if it’s like H3 MCC where we can choose either GEN-1 undersuit or GEN-2 undersuit) and it seems like we can also change the gauntlets, legs and crotch armor (maybe crotch is linked to leg appearance) because if you look the gauntlets of the Mark VII and the gauntlets of the Grenadier, they are different.
Same for the crotch and the legs (except thigh armors ) which is different between the Mark VII and the Grenadier.
So we know we can maybe also change between Reach gauntlets, legs and crotch or GEN-3 gauntlets, legs and crotch.
Also, and this is speculation on my part, I think we can choose which attachments we want on the helmet we wear because when you look at the Commando helmet (the one behind Mark VII and EVA
) on the E3 artwork, it looks like the [CBRN/CNM](https://wiki.halo.fr/images/f/f4/HR-Commando_%28casque_02_%28TMCC%29%29.png) variant from Reach but without the CNM on the left side of the helmet and I think that's a hint to changeable attachments on helmet instead of the helmet variant of Reach.
So yeah, I hope your worries are lessen by my post and I hope that the game will be fun and that you as well as everyone will greatly enjoy the game.
Also I really hope that the MTX isn't too predatory or awful but I still prepare myself to be disappointed in this regard.
Just, please 343i, keep MTX to coatings. That would be the less damaging option to the game and to your reputation.
