Right this game has been seriously getting on my nerves for the past few months for 2 reasons. Mostly because of the updates. I find it unacceptable that updates need to be over 30GB. Everytime I want to play this game, I can’t because it’s updating. I have good internet but even mines takes a while to download 30GB and when it had downloaded, it’s too late because I just decided to play something else. If it’s not stupid 30GB updates, it’s Halo 5 with all the DLC that doubles the size of the game and takes over 20% of my console’s Hard Drive space.
Then there is the new Campaign DLC. I bought the Ultimate Edition so I should own Awaken the Nightmare because I own the Season Pass. But when I go to download the game, it’s not in available to download and it says I have to pay £14.99. YOU -Yoinking!- LIARS. You promised that we would get all future DLCs with the season pass so why are you charging me for something I paid for.
I want my DLC that I paid for. I paid for Awaken the Nightmare when I bought the Ultimate Edition. I should own the Complete Edition just by paying for the Ultimate Edition.
I think this is total -Yoink-. It was -Yoink- from the second you released an unfinished game. Halo Wars 2 was released Unfinished. I’ve played RTS games and the ending just reeked of total -Yoink-. This is NOT how RTS games work when you do DLC. If you are going to do DLC. You need something substantial. You’ve been releasing nothing but minor DLC that honestly should have been in the game from Day 1. If you were going to charge for something not in the Season Pass, in my opinion Stormbreaker should have been the DLC to do it with and as a $10 Expansion. You promised us extra Campaign content in the Season pass and it should have been Awaken the Nightmare. In my opinion, you cheated your fanbase and this sort of dishonesty has gone too far. Is this the -Yoinking!- -Yoink- to expect for Halo 6? Or Halo Wars 3? Or even Halo VR?
Kind of late to the party, bud.

The season pass never said it would cover all content, it said it would cover about 6 months of content. Additionally, ATN was never intended to be part of the season pass.
So you can’t “get the DLC I paid for” if you didn’t actually pay for it. If you’d like to discuss it further please visit this megathread

As for this I understand the annoyance of having big updates, fortunately you don’t actually add 30 GB. It’s mostly replacing 30 GB of bad code. The only time you add any memory is when you download DLC.
*Spearbreaker
Yeah its annoying with the updates but oh well
Though I don’t agree with a lot of the things 343i or CA has done. I can say the Season’s pass covered a lot of content. We got so many leaders in the past few months to the point I kind of wish it was stretched out a little longer because I liked those ViDocs they did on them. Spearbreaker was short but at least we got to face Colony instead of the typical Brutes all the time. As for Awakening the Nightmare for 20 dollars this way more than we got from most games these days. Halo Wars 1 I don’t think you remember how long it took us to get the Historical Map Pack and game modes no one played.

it might not have an effect on me but there are some people who would struggle to download anything that is 30GB. It’s Unacceptable. Period. In my opinion, there is no excuse for why they have to do it. Last I checked, the game was just under 30GB. They are doing exactly the same thing with Halo 5. It’s not bad code. They are just being lazy by making you redownload the game. If it was to fix bad code then it would be less than 1GB. There is no reason in my mind why a patch to fix bad code has to be bigger than the base game. The game is now over 40GB.
And since they are just adding all the DLC as an update. I do own Awaken the Nightmare, It’s on my Hard Drive. As for them never saying it would cover all content. They never said what would be in the season pass from the start other than a vague mention of New Leaders, Units, Blitz Packs and Campaign Missions. And I never saw the content until they released it. Any coverage I saw of Awaken the Nightmare never mentioned it wasn’t apart of the season pass, they just announced when it was coming out. They did a bad job of clearly pointing out what we were getting. Also, as I pointed out. When I expect a new Campaign, I expect a fully flushed out expansion, not 2 missions.
When Blizzard released Starcraft 2, from the very start they were clear on the fact they were doing it as 3 separate campaigns. 1 game and 2 expansions. Then after than, they released a seperate campaign for Nova. But they never had any -Yoink- like this. They were transparent about what they were doing.
Command and Conquer games always had a game with 2 campaigns. Then they released an Expansion with more fully flushed out campaigns that added to the story.
Maybe I’ve been spoiled over the years or maybe other developers have set a standard for how you deliver extra content to an RTS game that works. Halo Wars 2 failed to meet this standard.

at this point it might as well be called -Yoink- breaker

For redownloading the entire game each patch, apparently that’s a Microsoft problem; something with the harddrive. There’s supposed to be a patch that’ll fix it sometime this month, or you could factory reset your console to fix the issue… (Please don’t do this unless you’ve read the thread on the correct procedures).

They do it this way so as not to fragment the community between have’s and have-not’s. The DLC is installed so you can play against people who own it, but you yourself cannot utilize because you do not own it. Think of it as a digital ‘easement’.
Also, I would like to compare Halo Wars 2 to Destiny and Destiny 2. Both Season passes for Destiny and Destiny 2 point out that you get 2 expansions. Now although they don’t say what the content is. They clearly point out how much content comes with the season pass. Halo Wars 2 was vague in telling us what to expect but not exactly what we were getting. Gears of War 4 which is also published by Microsoft is clear in the fact that for 12 months we would be getting 2 new maps among other content. My point is that this season pass was not transparent in exactly how much content we were getting which I think is why people were pissed off about not getting Awaken the Nightmare. I don’t care what they have said since then. It should have been transparent from DAY 1

Here’s the description:
> The Halo Wars 2 Season Pass delivers regular content updates that span more than six months, including: new leaders with abilities that change the course of multiplayer battles, new units that add to your multiplayer arsenal, and a new campaign expansion featuring exclusive missions
Now, I know that isn’t an incredibly detailed list, but it also isn’t as vague as you’re making it out to be.
Feel free to use the megathread to discuss the season pass or see the support topic linked above if you are having issues installing or updating the DLC
